Great Product but short sighted?

Obviously phone service for $20/year is a great idea. The hardware does a good job for the money, but I just struggle to understand the short-sightedness and unimaginative minds behind MJ. Instead of letting people hack it, tweak it, find new innovative ways to use MJ all the while growing the customer base and each paying their $20/year. They work so hard to lock it down so it only does a fraction of what's possible. So they not only alienate their customer base with their poor customer service, they continue to find ways to lobotomize their product so it does less and less making it less attractive to the adventuresome users that are the first adopters of this kind of product.

In contrast, the hottest telephony software on the market right now is Twilio and it is open source. Not only a great product, but new apps are being written with it at an incredible rate and the market reception is huge.

Compare it TO netTALK and it IS DOA.... not nearly perfect? its been stagnant for how many years no new addons changes no nothing.

NT has a cell phone app to make calls a vidoeo phone and a bridge conferance feature. this in the past 3 months!!!! and they are talking about more features and improvements!!! They are evolving. MJ has been devolving. MJ has done nothing to pefect its product NT is underway in more improvements and adding more functionality to their service.

My wife and I have had very few issues with our two magicJacks over the past year, and feel no need to dump it because you're unhappy with yours. It works fine for us.

There is no way to "prove" anything when each user has a different unique experience. For you the choice is apparently obvious. For me the choice is obvious as well. My call quality is excellent all of the time. I don't fax so I couldn't care less that NT does. I have zero numbers that I call being blocked. So for me MagicJack is, on performance, at least equal if not better than NT. And since for me it's cheaper, it's an obvious choice.

Now I'm sure you will post 25 reasons why I'm wrong. But there is no sense in trying to convince you of anything since you have your mind made up.

And per another forum, number porting into MJ is apparently here, at least in Beta form. And if I'm not mistaken, it's not here in any form for NT.

I have to ask why you're begging so much for proof? Are you trying to justify your decision? Can't you make a decision on your own without someone else's opinion? You feel NT is better. So what? Every one of these VoIP devices have their pros and cons. You have our permission to make your own decision and use what you want. I imagine you're old enough to make your own decisions without begging for our opinions.
