I wish I had known about MJ Forum before I bought MJ, I doubt I would have bought it if I had. The comment about not researching this first is laughable to me now. And since you're already here, you know so too. I've wasted more time on this cheap, simple device than on any car I've bought since I was a teenager.

I did read this fourm for close to a year prior buying mine in Aug 2008!!
Correct me if I am wrong, and IF I am wrong I will admit it, but was the poll question changed??? I could swear it did NOT say what it says now? If it was changed makes you wonder about having a discussion with someone and they go and change the question ( or the rules) . OH CRAP they must be a Democrat if that is the case..
AGAIN if I am wrong about the poll question changing I am man enough ( just like Rosie O'Donnell) to adimit I was mistaken...

Welll. If it was me, I would say that all the information I digested in that year clouded my normal good judgement.

And I have to admit, I didn't even notice the poll until 5 minutes ago,

Maybe the Poll should be re-worded to ask if NetTalk will hurt MJ sales. Then I would be comfortable in saying, "Yes."

Having MJ going on 11 months now and Nettalk going on two months, the only time I plug in MJ is when I happen to think of it and maybe it needs to be connected every now and then - if only for the updates. Still, for $20/yr after first year, it is too good a thing to ignore - as a backup to Nettalk.

Yes, MJ sales may drop by 0.1%. There are tons of people around here buying MJ, but I have to meet someone first who has Nettalk.
I did not know about this forum when I bought MJ a couple of years ago; i did not do any research on it nor watched any infomercials ( fortunately).
I tested the device in an office and I was impressed. At home I had a bit more problems because I have just the crappy ATT DSL while they have
expensive cable but I am still O.K.

I just set this up w/my Omnia and it works !!!

Called using my home wi-fi ...

laged and is choppy but not sure it was the apps fault as it could be wi-fi related but the call did work and it was FREE!!!

It’s surprising to see that many “Yes” votes , when I myself voted “No”, like Bill said if I would have framed my Poll as “Is NT going to Hurt MJ” may be many more would have voted “Yes”

in btw, I downloaded iphone app of NT and tested it call went thru absolutely fine on 3G, I was expecting better performance on wireless though.
Although I have ton of minutes , it’s still cool to get free calls on mobile phones.

looks like NT is future , at least they care/show that they care about their paying customers and not treat them like cheap bastards in communist countries get treated (no rights for individuals, they make the rules and enforce)

I am a very light user of MJ

But here’s why I hate MJ.

1. When I ordered MJ about 18 months back they said I could change my number for free (one time) , then suddenly without notice they started charging money for that
2. Block calls to international calling card providers ( unable to use MJ for making third party International calls, instead calls are rerouted to an AD for their international calling plan)
3. Block calls to WebEx and Goto meeting conference numbers

I have the NT Duo so much better than the Magic Crap others are stuck with. there are even MJ facebook and all i see is angry people not happy with the service.

It is a funny video. I like the don't talk s*it about my mom part. But it's not a great sell of NetTalk. He dials the phone twice, and both times the ringing is choppy. Don't have choppy issues with my MJ.

That's a strange thing about NT. The ringing does come across choppy sometimes, but that doesn't carry over to the actual voice communication.

I've wondered if that is a result of their compression routine filtering out non-voice frequencies a bit over aggressively, or something else.

Luckily, the voice is clear (although in that particular video, it did sound choppy when talking to momma, but I couldn't tell if that was the speaker phone cut-off effect)

That's fine. I can prefer my NT devices, and still enjoy the low price benefits of my MJ. I certainly don't need to mock those using MJ.

While NT has many advantages over MJ, Magic Jack still holds on to a couple advantages (people can confirm or refute):

1) Available at retail
2) More reliable USB interface
3) Cheaper up front, slightly cheaper annually.
4) Seems that porting is finally almost here.
5) Canadian numbers at low price
6) More local prefixes ???

It could be argued that MJ has its own reliability problems, but I think (due to the drivers still being beta), more users have a problem using the Duo via USB. Of course, the big benefit is that you can hook it to your router and skip all that.

I think the MJ's beeping problem has improved.

Another MJ negative is their blocking of certain numbers and area codes. Even if they haven't blocked one you need, they've demonstrated the willingness to do so. Haven't experienced that with NT.

I fully acknowledge and believe in the over all superior qualities of NT. I was just declaring my opinion that there is no need for customer rivalry. After all MJ still has its uses, and (as I pointed out) a few items in the plus column.
