No Vista or Win 7 here, this is on a Win XP machine that MJ has been running on for the last 2 years. Now that's not to say that Winblows didn't up date something to cause MJ to have problems,,, wouldn't be the first time.
I hate Winblows so much that I do not run it except for this 1 machine that I have to run another Winblows app, all my other machines are either Linux or Mac.

Keep calling MJ
Alfer, welcome to frustration land. Same issue at this end. Worked all day with incoming and outgoing calls of all lengths. Then it showed up in the evening. Exactly 5:00 minutes. Had to restart everything. Lets keep “chatting” with MJ. Maybe if there are enough complaints they will escalate.
Can you test on an Intel Mac?

Three magic jacks with same problem
I've been using magicjack for about three months now, and overall i've been satisfied, that is until last week.
It seems that suddenly, magicjack to cell phone/landline calls time out after 5 minutes, the call is not dropped it simply mutes the person speaking on the cell side of the equation.
I have tried cellphone to magicjack calls and they are still ok
I have tried landline to magicjack calls and they are still ok
But
magicjack to cellphones ( bell, telus, fido have been tested ), and landlines go mute after 5 minutes.
I've tried this over and over again with all the magicjacks I could get a hold of ( 3 - montreal, toronto, calgary) and can replicate the problem consistently.
The three of us bought our magicjack's at the same time, about 3 months ago. MagicJack support chat 'strictly' adherers to a script, and ultimately declares that they will pass this problem to the programming/engineering group, and that, ends that.
When i first got it, I'd tell anybody to get one, now only 90 days later, avoid it like the plague. Caveat emptor.

Keep Chatting
Lets keep after MJ. Keep calling (I am) and have them keep escalating to their internal folks. Also point them to this note. Maybe they will get the hint. We are paying for a service, not a 5 minute call.

Meany....
OK reaching for something here. When the MJ is running there are USB devices called TigerJet HardDisk USB Device and TigerJet CD-ROM USB Device under Computer Management/Storage/removable Storage/libraries. The properties general tab has a setting call Deferred dismounts. The default setting is “Retain dismountable media for” 5 minutes. Hmmm 5 minutes??? Moved mine to 99 minutes and will test. Any tech types have any comment???

No diff
Sadly it made no difference. 3 test calls, all made it to 5:30 before I quit. 4th call lasted 23:37 before I hung up. Next call 5 minutes and it died. Called the same number without changing anything and it lasted 10:30 before I hung up.

Here's the facts as I know them:
1) The problem began about a month ago (after 4-5 months of no problems)
2) Most calls (more than 90%), maybe ALL calls, initiated by the phone connected to the MJ unit result in the other party's incoming audio being dropped after five minutes. they can still hear me, but I can't hear them.
3) Incoming calls are NEVER affected.
4) I haven't done much testing with non-Canadian #s because I don't call non-Canadian #s a lot so I'll say "local (areas code 204) numbers I call"are affected, and I suspect that others numbers are affected as well.
5) NONE of the countless hours of changes to firewall and security settings, disabling virus software, updating Magicjack, changing DNS entries, or rebooting router or PC have done a single thing to fix the problem.
I believe that MJ support can't admit they don't know what the issue is so they waste your time making you jump through one desperate tech hoop after another until you get tired of it or run out of time and then they figure it's fixed. Clue: IT'S NOT!

Three numbers i'm following that still manifest the problem; two of us have moved on from magicjack, the third preparing to do so.
Remember to visit the magicjack site one last time to turn off your automatic renewal; that really should be your last interaction with them.
