I just purchased an order online for a magic jack with the 5 year add-on of services for an additional $69.99.

I was then looking through some more of the website's pages and found this statement:

"We also collect your browser searches and have access to your contact list."

I had no idea that magic jack was a Trojan program that subversively is tracking your internet browser searches and has access to read your contact lists that you have on your personal computer. This is beyond unreal.

Everyone should be aware of this so I am posting this. You are being tracked by Magicjack.

No doubt there will be people here who will now respond with sarcastic disdain towards me exposing this information and its implications. Just make sure when you respond with your sarcastic venom to include your full name, address, and list of all your internet searches as long as you have been using MJack, as well as a list of all the people in your computer's contact list when responding. After all such information is meaningless to you, and you should have no problem letting anyone have all those details. Otherwise your pathetic hypocrisy is beyond shamelessly unreal.

No they had that screwed up too. They were disappearing with the old system too, if you didn't make a separate copy of the list and hide it from them deep in your computer.

That was why they moved it to their servers, people were having so many contact list issues. As with most MJ fixes, it just opens another door of issues for them.

My phone company logging my browsing history is different.

I'm not happy about it, to be clear. But if they have sold 7 million units as their package says, and you assume 1/2 have been thrown away or blown up, that's still 3.5 million dongles and web surfers. Multiply that by 24 X 7 X 365, and thats a lot of junk sitting on their servers.

I suppose if someone gave them a hard time, they could threaten to post their search activity. Just isn't going to happen. They are using it on some program to map where to do their advertising. I would be more worried about Google than MagicJack. We probably would be stunned at who's collecting and NOT telling us.
