US cell phone
I'm trying to call a US cell phone with an area code 347. I constantly receive a busy signal even though the person's cell phone is on. I don't have this problem with other cell phone numbers with a different area code. I've tried chatting with MagicJack and they've sent this problem to their "engineers" to sort out. I would greatly appreciate any help with this. Thanks. Barbara

Are you sure it isnt 3 beeps and then nothing or a busy signal??Barbara wrote:I'm trying to call a US cell phone with an area code 347. If so MJ has been blocking a lot of exchanges of late ( you may want to do a search for 3 beeps).
It is also possible if you are a new MJ user your MJ # is not "known" to the carrier of the cell number you are trying to call.
It sometimes takes a few weeks for things to work out on their own. You may have to call the cell phone carrier and let them know your MJ exchange and number and see what they can do.
OR it is just another one of MJs hickups of late...

Thanks for your answer. I'm definitely getting a busy signal. I'm not a new MJ user but the cell phone is new for my friend. How would I get hold of the cell phone carrier. I don't own a cell phone and have no idea how these things work. Barbara

Just a quick FYI - There are places on the net that will tell you what carrier belongs to what phone number. Here is one that comes to mind.
