Dial Area Code First ? ? ?
Hello to All,
I have monitored this forum for weeks and this is my first post, as this is my first hour installing MagicJack. My first concern is having to dail the Area Code for each call. Is there away around that. I have on order a Cisco Linksys PAP2T-NA UNLOCKED but it has not arrived yet. Is there a way to dial without the area code ? ? ?
Thanks - hap

Welcome to magicJack and the best MJ support forum around--unofficial or not.
Magicfeatures by redpepper www.pcphonesoft.com should take care of 7 digit dialing. You may have wasted yours money if you bought the ATA for MJ. Many people think that capability is a thing of the past.

Hi, if you have an ATA and are into exploring the possibilities of MJ and making phone calls over the Internet, why not keep your ATA and experiment with VOIP. Search for VOIP in these discussions and there are recommendations for free voip accounts (e.g., http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/what ... -t206.html) and you can make use of your new ATA. Even if you get into a paid VOIP subscription, for the equivalent cost of an espresso coffee once a month you can have a landline quality phone. The PAP2T has 2 jacks so you can have 2 separate lines.hap123 wrote:Thanks again for the info . . . . . . Have one ATA For Sale
As mcbelisle and tony say, your new ATA is still a good investment.hap123 wrote:Thanks again for the info . . . . . . Have one ATA For Sale
I started with MJ on a thin client years ago. Has worked pretty well, so I stopped coming to this forum. But MY MJ is going downhill, so I came back to check for the current state-of-the-art.
And found that I missed the 1/2 off NetDuo deal by one month, missed the SIP Sorcery free sign-up period. Missed out on Gizmo5 prior to Google snatching it up.
You really have to stay on top of this market!
That said, I'll take your ATA if you don't want to tackle it!
