MagicJack running on NAS/Server

Post by nosvet »

Is it possible, to run MagicJack on a NAS or Home Server? I'm considering purchasing NAS/media/server, or building an Atom or VIA based home server running FreeNAS, Linux or a MS based OS.

I want to have the MagicJack on this device as it will be running 24/7, and I want to wire the MJ to all RJ11 jacks in the house.

Is this doable?

Thanks

MJ works on MS Server 2003

i have MS Server 2003 and Mj works great on it.... Only thing you must do is setup Magicjack as a service and run as a administrator local account. Not on a Active directory user. This will allow permissions to the USB port PID:0 .

I have tested Virtualizing XP into this, and there is no way to give the USB port total control.

Happy calling...

I'm doing exactly this on XP SP3.

Depends on how deep into server/NAS you want to get but XP Pro SP3 can pretty much handle the majority of home users needs.

I've got approx. 5 lines throughout my house running off the single MJ without a problem.
