Exactly ... a true urban growth philosophy ... low introductory price, get em hooked & dependent, make the price whatever you REALLY want it to be.

I HOPE GC does NOT do this ... because it is pivotal in keeping me independent from ANY single (other) provider now. I don't even give a damn about porting phone #'s any more.

Man! You gave me a chill through my spine!!! :?

If MJ were going to raise the price of the 2nd year to $250, then MJ wouldn't be a "breakthrough" as MJ claimed to be. And MJ adopters would dump MJ devices like ... film cameras

Wow, you guys are really paranoid about MagicJacks corporate philisophy. Remember, big corporations only have your best interests in mind, you need to listen to big corporations, you need to follow their instructions to the letter...it really is best for you. Now in 3 seconds I will snap my fingers and you will wake up feeling alert and rested....*snap*...

To be on the safe side, perhaps I should sign up for the 2nd year now while it's still $20. I could see that MJ service for 2nd year would go up to $50, but $250 would be insane!

Well the comment about 250.00 was merely parody.. , but the disapearance of the 2nd year link seems ominous. The have been about a gazillion reviews touting the second year at 19.95 so any change to that would really be a dagger through the heart for MJ.

But you're right Gerry_52, I really do believe that all big corporations only care about me..the little guy...

Ever notice how many advertisements use the word "trust".

Wow...it works!!!

I'm sure a lot of research went into coming up with the $19.95 a year pricepoint. I can't imagine them changing it at this point, it would be corporate suicide, financial writers would have a field day with YMMJ. Dan didn't just fall off the turnip truck last night, he has an excellent record within the financial markets and there are a lot of "big boys" watching the MJ. This is one of those products that cause people to say to themselves, "why didn't I think of that"? How many products out there can claim that during beta testing they sold tens of thousands of the product at full boat pricing and with all the little problems encountered people still loved the product?

I can't even find "sales Chat" any more. I had a session with "Tech Chat" today and here it is unedited:

You are now chatting with 'Thomas'

Thomas: Hello, how may I help you?

Michael: Hey Thomas.

Michael: Can't find the link to order the second year of service?

Thomas: Please wait while I check that for you

Michael: OK.

Thomas: Michael, please wait for a couple of days while we check and update the website.

Michael: Should I check back here or with sales chat?

Thomas: You can get in touch with the sales chat and they will guide you.

Michael: Thanks then.

I logged into my.magicjack.com account and it lists the following:

1 year renewal - $19.95
2 year renewal - $39.90
3 year renewal - $59.85

I don't see 5 year renewal anywhere ?

Basically, it's only offered when you buy a new MJ device, not to existing MJ subs. See my own answer here:

If they're going to offer the first year for cheap, but then jack up renewals, why wouldn't you just keep buying new units? Use a grand central number and problem solved...

Grand Central is not going to be free forever. They already hinted paid service after GC is getting out of beta.
