MJ to Modem?

Post by jrgill »

Since we cannot use the SIP credentials with other software, is it possible to run the phone line from MJ to a modem, and then dial using the modem?

Yes.

However, the cellphone needs to have separate ports for Audio IO and data control port (to control the voice modem)

I have a VERY old Nokia phone for exactly this and would be grateful if people could recommend some new and cheaper ones.

This is what I do to get unlimited calling from my cell phone:

1. I have a cell hooked up to my Thinclient
2. My TC runs MJ
3. I have a software that receives calls on my MJ and routes the call to the connected cellphone that dials my family's cell phones as appropriate
4. and viceversa (my family dials the cellphone number of the cellphone connected to the TC to dial out)

This gives us unlimited calling as calls are free within the cellphone network we subscribe to.

However - the cellphone connected to the TC is an old Nokia phone and I am looking for a new one that has a headset jack that is separate from the jack used to connect to the voice modem inside the cell.

Any cheap phones that have this?
