Did you try your friends MJ on your computer? you might want to check out Broadvoice.com They are similar to Vonage but have cheaper monthly plans. Or go with voipmyway.com when he quits changing his free service in the middle of the stream.

I would think reviewing our previous posts would give you all the help you need.

If you make the call from your GV home page, it will call you first. Click on "accept" when MJ pops up, and the call goes through to the other party.

i beg 2 differ. when i first started askin u questions i could not receive or make calls.

since then i unhooked and deleted (as much as i could) mj from my comp and reconnected n now i can receive calls. nobody suggested 2 me 2 do that. i am hopin that someone would have some similar simple solution that would help me 2 make calls without gv
since my friend didnt do anything but plug his in n his is slick as a whistle.

if u dont have any ideas such as this than i will backtrack n attempt 2 do this gv even tho i really dont want 2

n ur directions 4 usin gv are not the greatest.

for instance: do i take the phone off the hook b4 i "make the call from my gv home page" or do i wait till it calls n i hit accept.

And my response to you was referring to getting GV going. Between what Joe and I posted earlier there really is no further help available.

Amen.. I do not know anymore I can say about this as I went STEP BY STEP on how to call right from your MJ phone and Nailgunner gave you the way to use the GV page to do the same. I am not sure what else you need, other than us coming for a visit and showing you ourselves..

and joe thanx ever so much but i screwed up n forgot my pin n we couldnt figure out how 2 fix that prob so i will have 2 do it the other way

its a pain but i will keep playin with it till it works

if i am callin my kids so far i have been txt them on

http://www.iwireless.com/features-text_ ... g_page.asp

then i ask them 2 call

but that dont work 4 someplaces that i also have probs with

yesterday i tried 2 call our local police station 2 find out who was on call that nite. i had an important question n if it werent 4 the fact that my daughter was visiting from college i wouldnt have gotten thru 2 them.

if i still cant get this 2 work i will just keep it 4 incoming calls n get a cell with ano contract unlimited calling n txt-ing for $40. a month good plan

course having mj was 2 avoid the expense since i am on such a limited budget disabled vet...

It appears from Joe's prior work with you that the numbers you are "generally" trying to call are being blocked. He seemed pretty sure that was the case after making a test call. You can confirm for yourself that your MagicJack is overall working by finding a business in a big city, call them and if it goes through, apologize for dialing the wrong number and hang up.

If only certain calls are not working they are probably being blocked and that is not likely to change anytime soon. That is where Google Voice comes in. You already have the account set up. Use Joe's method, or mine as follows:

Go to the web-site googlevoice.com/voice. It should open up with your account showing. If not, log on to open it. ALL you have to do from this point on is:

1) On the left hand side under "GoogleVoice" are 2 tabs, "call" and "text". Click on "call".

2) A box will open up with 2 entries you need to fill in. #1 is the number you want to call, include the area code. I include the dashes, I don't know if you have to. #2 is the phone you want to call WITH. Depending on what phones you have registered with them, you may have cell and home as options. I only have home, which is my MagicJack. Make sure the phone you want to USE is picked.

3) Click on "Connect" and GoogleVoice will ring your phone. When I do it, I already have a dial tone on my MagicJack phone, a "decline" or "accept" box pops up from MagicJack. I hit accept and the call goes through.

It may sound a little complicated but after about 3 times using it, it takes seconds. Since I call the same numbers, I just click on the "placed" call menu item on the left side. All recent calls pop up (I delete them down every few days to just a few), and there is a call tab on each number you have previously called. You don't even have to enter in the number. Just click on call, and everything else is the same.

Play with it, it really is pretty straightforward. Enter a number or click call on a number, pick the phone you are using, hit connect, answer the call and it rings whoever you are calling. That's it.

And note that with the "text" tab, you can text your kids from there without using another service.

It's pretty much the same as I posted on page two, but as long as you got it to work that's all that counts, since that was MY last shot at it.

It is a pain, but will probably be necessary since MJ seems to be blocking the exchanges you are calling. It will get easier as you use it.

The side benefit is that MagicJack cuts you off when any call you make goes more than 1.5 hours. Using Google Voice gets around that problem.

No problem but I did send you a PM a while ago with my number for you to call if you wanted me to help you...
Hope you have a happy new year and things get better for you. I was separated for 7 years and got divorced this past March. Thankfully it was all handled like adults and no yelling or fighting. I helped her move and she helped me. They should all be so civil.... it is all about respect....

As I mentioned earlier you can CHANGE your PIN online when you log into your GV account. I already gave you a step by step on how to change it.. Just look back over some of the messages here and you will see exactly what you need to do to change it. Then you have two ways of getting through the blocking problem, GV via the web, or GV via your MJ phone. You use whatever is best for you, or both depending on the situation.

In the 2 1/2 plus years I have had my MJ it has not slowed down my PC and I have a 7 yr old MB which in and of itself, by todays standards, is not a very powerful PC. Chances are you have something else installed and running in the background ( MOST PC sucking programs are Anti Virus programs) which is causing that on your PC...
As far as your other question, if you do not use Microsoft Outlook then you do not need to have the MJ MS Outlook add on installed. It does NOT install by itself you or someone else had to have manually install it. I would imagine you can go into add/remove programs and just uninstall the MJ Outlook addon.

o wow thanx ever so much. i didnt think that mj was slowin my comp down but i thot i would ask anyway.

i also didnt think that i needed that other thing. it wasnt there at the beginnin of when i hooked up my mj. i will get rid of it.

n i have deleted, defragmented, disk cleaned & scanned 4 virus's n still cant get the comp 2 stop bein so slow. this slowness just started in the last week so i got something i just dont no what. i got some work 2 do.

thanx... i do have my pin but havent used it yet. been 2 busy with my daughter here. she was using my comp most of the time but finally she got her laptop back from getting the virus off. she insisted 2 me that her friends told her that she didnt need virus software cause it didnt work - so she didnt have any.

hence she got a virus that crashed her comp. she had 2 have the whole thing redone. that was a costly mistake but kids just dont listen 2 mom. mom doesnt no what she is talkin bout.

u guys probably agree with her but i really am not as stupid as i may have sounded on this forum.

thanx ever so much.

So let us use some logic here. You daughter has been using your PC since her laptop got a virus. Now your PC is running slow.. Hmmmm I think 2 + 2 = 4......Sounds like your daughter either visited a web page she should not have, installed something she should not have, or even clicked on a pop up she shouldn't have. An AV program will warn you if you have a virus but you can circumvent it by clicking on a harmful pop up....

so what do i do about a harmful pop-up? i scanned n cant find anything not good on.

i am so bummed. i dont no y this is happenin 2 me but i am bein punished. i just got the mj workin great with the help u guys n gv. n now i lost all my reception. it is so scratchy that i litterally cant hear anythin xcept more scratchiness when someone talks.

i am so discouraged.

so u think it is my internet provider? that will make me even more mad cause i paid them $80 to hook me up. what does anybody or everybody think?

I haven't been involved in this thread but Crackerjack has been a longstanding and IMO, valuable contributor to this forum.

All forums have their fare share of trolls and lately, it seems they have been using up an awful lot of bandwidth here. My apologies in advance if I've offended the innocent, but with rare exception, those who have been active supporters here go out of their way to be helpful and respectful.

If that has not been your experience, you might look in the mirror and ask yourself why.
