Has any one seen or have any information of possibly re flashing the older MJ to re-purpose it.
I have over 40 of them and was thinking about trying to re-flash them and load them with my company's sip info and sell them.
Flash the MJ?

That is not going to work because MJ is primarily software driven. If you want to write software you might be able to use some of the software here:genxweb wrote:Has any one seen or have any information of possibly re flashing the older MJ to re-purpose it.

Other than that, it is really only possible to reflash them to re-register with a new MJ account and that would be stealing service.
The Xlitejack Plugin is designed to basically "repurpose" a MJ dongle to use with any SIP based VoIP network. An active MJ subscription is not required.
Some fine tuning may be needed in the longer term to match your ultimate vision if the quantities are there. This is however a simple solution that will work right now including keypad dialing, phone ringing and caller id name/number display.
You can PM me if you want to start up a private confidential dialog.

redpepper thanks for the info, once stuff calms down here for me I will def shoot you a message.
I am not trying to do anything illegal just give those that use my service the ability to use it with a analog phone with out having to buy a ata.
I would like to have my own app even if it is a shell that will display google ads in it and allow them to make use of the jack to plug a phone in.
I would like to get to the point where I flash a jack and send it to them with all their account info already on it with my application.

Noted. Almost anything is possible.
To start you could also just have a download on your site that "repurposes" a MJ dongle to work with whatever version of the X-Lite softphone you already offer to users. That way there is little to no additional financial or resource overhead and you can directly convert MJ customers even while you sleep.
On a separate subject, CounterPath used to offer a custom version of X-Lite dialer that automatically pre-configures itself for every individual user at the time of download.

Threshold of a Great Idea
Haven't checked in here for some weeks (holiday hyperactivity), just found this.
Must say that I think you're on the threshold of a great idea!
With the new MJ authentication scheme, earlier thoughts were toward waiting for the (shrouded in mystery) hackers to just figure it out and come up with a new mjproxy. But if, as it appears, the new software fully implements hopping code, this could truly be un-doable.
The dongle IS still a fine little device. Reusing it to connect with other VoIP providers would be awesome.
If the bootloader isn't performing any unencrypt ops (body of firmware image readily readable), perhaps the difficulty in doctoring an older version would be low.
