Tara: Hello, how may I help you?
Ted: I lost my magicjack
Tara: okay
Ted: how can i get the replacement one
Tara: We can issue you a replacement device for $ 20
Ted: ok
Tara: you will have the same number and year of service as your old device
Tara: Do you wish to order now?
Ted: great
Ted: yes
Tara: May I have the magicjack number please?
Ted: (xxx) xxx-xxxx
Tara: Thank you
Tara: As I checked it here, the account for Phone Number:(xxx) xxx-xxxx
Tara: was already expired last2011-01-23
Ted: i just entered as a lost magicjack
Ted: should i reactivate it?
Tara: As I doubled checked it here, your account was deactivated Ted. And there is no way that we can give you a replacement for that account Ted
Ted: So..
Tara: Once you deactivate your number you cannot reactivate it again
Tara: the other option is to order a new device
Ted: but i already paid for aother one and half year
Tara: I understand Ted but you deactivate your account
Ted: that was only option i have on my account
Tara: yes because the account was deactivated
Ted: about lost my magicjack
Tara: I understand
Ted: So..
Tara: But we cannot give you a replacement because the device will be still appear deactivated
Tara: The option is to order a new device
Ted: I tried to see option to reorder my magicjack. So I thought that was it
Tara: What do you mean? is it @my.magicjack.com or magicjack. com?
Ted: i'm really unsatisfied now
Ted: I just tried to get the replacement. That was only option I saw in my.magicjack.com
Ted: I clicked on the report lost or stolen magicjack.
Ted: the next option is deactivate magicjack
Ted: That what was happened
Tara: I do understand Ted but we can only issue you a replacement is you have a active account. As I have said you will have the same year of service for the replacement, since the account for the old device was deactivated the replacement will also appear deactivated
Ted: What I meant was I was missed leading on your page. And now I lost my subscription too.
Tara: I understand, there is no option of ordering a replacement device @my.magicjack.com you can only do that online for the operators will check the account first before giving a replacement
Tara: I'm afraid but yes it is Ted
Ted: What I concerned now is my subscription which I still have another one and half year.
Ted: What happened to that
Tara: It was forfeited, and none transferable
Ted: This is really bad customer service. I will need to report this.
Ted: Thank you
Tara: I understand Ted and I respect your decision
Tara: Is there anything else I may help you with today?
Tara: That was stated in our terms of services Ted
Ted: I think I had enough. Thank you

I do remember that when I deactivated one of my two accounts they had me go through the lost or stolen tab to do it.

If I'm following what has happened to you though, it looks like they screwed you over for following the instructions on the web-site.

I would certainly try the customer chat again and make it clear, again, why you hit the deactivate button. I find it hard to believe that they can't reactivate you the same day. If you get no satisfaction with another try, I would email Dan, since some people have luck with that approach. His email is in this forum somewhere.

And for others reading this, I rarely recommend using the customer service for anything. But for adding and deleting accounts, I do, and then I save a copy of the chat in case they screw it up. If you do it first on your own you run the risk of something going wrong and having them blame you for their lousy set-up, like it appears happened here.

I think I'm done with them. I just want to post this what happening for others. I heard about a great thing with MagicJack. However if they haven't improve their customer service, I don't want to give them any business either.

So frustrated!

Post by putty_tat007 »

I'm so frustrated same thing happened to me. I can't believe they can deactivate but can not activate. My husband is a communications Engineer and he said it can be done manually. I contacted them four times, they seem to not understand very simple questions and answers, they have to talk to their supervisors for every little thing.

MJ just doesn't care about their customers once the MJ is purchased so sad but true.

Wish there was a way to talk to someone in the USA and not over seas this problem would be fixed very quickly.
