magicjack or scam
First Things First,
1-Is this NOT a magicjack support website? I mean this just support by customer to customers?
If yes, then how sad we paid for NOT supported product.
If yes, then why the name has unofficial
2-How in the world, company selling phone service has NO support phone, physical address, or at least
Mailing address, or even email address?
3-Yes, they have chat support (mostly automated, till they find someone to support you with limited knowledge)
4- The voice mail not working, in both magic jack and Magic talk
5-Both (Magic jack and Magic talk) have terrible voice quality
6-Many times we found someone dialed unknown phone from our computer, one day I saw the number punched to the dial pad, and how this happened.
However, we accepted all those issues as NO problem. but not when it comes to move to a new computer, we installed the MagicTalk, when we tried to login, the paged directed us to buy new service, when we chated with MajicTalk support the claimed we have to pay another $10.00 if we want to use it.
This means if you install magictalk, you have to stick to that computer or pay another $10.00 to use it in your new computer.
What kind SCAM this ?

Unofficial means exactly that. I believe in most international languages.

We get what we pay for. If you want a full service phone company you will have to pay more than $20 for the "equipment" and $20 a year for the service. A search in here will get you the owners email. He doesn't obviously answer it personally, but users had gotten satisfactory results with it, whoever the poor assistant is who gets the lucky job of handling his email. Likewise there is a phone number here or through google that will get you the billing department and there have been reports of users actually talking to a person.

Correct you are

If you take some time and search inside this forum you will find that others have had the same issues and there have been proposed solutions. They may or may not work for you.

It sounds like someone may have hacked your system. I would be worried about what else they are doing inside your computer.

I personally don't use MagicTalk. Have you looked deep into the terms of service to see if there are limitations on what they allow?

You're right, it's a scam. Ignore the nearly 3 years of accumulated wisdom presented in these fora and go away!LIndawe wrote: What kind SCAM this ?

After you repeated your complaint in another section of this forum, I spent a whole 5 minutes and found the answer to your "question". To save you the time. I now think, with my limited knowledge of MagicTalk, that since there is no hardware, that the $10 fee per computer makes sense. Here is my other response:LIndawe wrote: but not when it comes to move to a new computer, we installed the MagicTalk, when we tried to login, the paged directed us to buy new service, when we chated with MajicTalk support the claimed we have to pay another $10.00 if we want to use it.

Working perfectly, every call made and every incoming call. I have my MJ # forwarded to my GV and that comes through as well. I will most likely renew my MJ in Aug as a backup and to keep my MJ#. After that I am not sure. I guess $20 a year is not a lot to pay to have a backup in case GV and OBi part ways. Sure the OBi can be used with other VOIP services, but none out there can beat MJ on price. Plus for almost 3 years now my MJ has worked just fine. Other than the caps introduced by MJ. Since they lowered the talk time to 90 min last summer there have been a few times while on a Tech Support call I was close to going over and in a few instances I did.oldtimercurt wrote:Joe, how's that Obi doing for you? I've got one on the way.

how to get the best call quality.
Per MJ's tech support - If your calls have an occasional "clicking" sound or garbled audio - it's because your windows firewall and/or your router's firewall are "screening" the UDP Voip data packets - and this results in delays and/or line noise. To clear this problem up, open ports 5060 and 5070 for UDP packets to your computer's IP address (in your router) and open the ports on your Window's firewall. After setting these ports open in my window's firewall and home router, I consistently get clear calls, and I can send/receive faxes consistently if no other downloads or internet streaming content are active.
Is it me? I think it is, or is that just you?

Let me be sure what you are saying.nailgunner wrote:LIndawe wrote:We get what we pay for. If you want a full service phone company you will have to pay more than $20 for the "equipment" and $20 a year for the service.
If a company sets its price low enough they are perfectly free to tell customers to stick it up their noses if the product fails?
Just checking whether I read you right.
Thanks a million

No you didn't read it right. I said you get what you pay for.JimL wrote:Let me be sure what you are saying.nailgunner wrote:LIndawe wrote:We get what we pay for. If you want a full service phone company you will have to pay more than $20 for the "equipment" and $20 a year for the service.

If you want a FULL SERVICE phone company you will have to pay more than $20 a year for that service. If you want phone service for $20 a year you will have to put up with an on-line customer service that is about as useful as people not reading posts correctly.
They don't tell you to stick it up your nose, they tell you they don't know how to fix the problem. It amazes me that people would expect much else for $20 a year. You want someone to come out and fix it for you? You will have to pay for it.

Re: magicjack or scam
Your post didn't cost me anything except a few minutes of two finger typing and another minute or two of trying to figure out how you came to your conclusion that I said anything about how a low price gave a company the right to say or do anything. All I said, to speak s l o w e r, was that when you are getting practically FREE phone service that it is probably a "little" unreasonable to expect anything but bare bones customer service, and that is exactly what we get with MJ.JimL wrote: I'm sorry if my post cost you any official support.
