Failure to connect To Home Phone

Post by fmpreusser »

I have owned Magicjack for almost 2 years and have had very few problems. A feature that has always worked, stopped working about 2 weeks ago:
My wife and I have Verizon cell phone s with a 253 area code (family plan) that we use to make calls to our home phone in a 262 area code (1-262-xxx-xxxx) where we live. For the last three weeks when we dial our home phone, we get a message that our carrier has routed the call incorrectly, instead of a long distance call it should be a local call. I have tried to omit the area code but no luck.
I have no problems receiving calls from other cell pones either from 253 or 262 area code on my MagicJack home phone. I can also dial any number from my MagicJack phone without any problems.
I am hoping someone has seen this problem and solved it.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks
Fred

Can't connect to MJ home phone number from Verizon cellphone

Post by adavisirl »

I have a similar problem. We recently had our landline phone number transferred to MJ (yay!!!) All is fine, EXCEPT, we cannot call our landline number from our Verizon cellphones. Our landline area-code is 360, while the area code used by our cellphones is 626. If I dial "360" before the landline number, I get "You have reached a non-working number". If I leave out the area-code, I get "While roaming, please use the area-code of the number you are calling", which is weird, since I'm not roaming.

Interestingly, this problem occurs only when we are in the local area of our house. I traveled out of state yesterday, and was able to call our landline from my cellphone no problem. Meanwhile, my wife, who was at home, could not connect!

Our neighbors, and folks with Sprint cellphones, etc. have no problems calling our landline.

I have a theory, and it's only that, just a theory. But they are apparently still working on the MagicJack Plus, along with some cell phone apps.

It would not surprise me, since this all appears to be connected and on the same servers, if something they are doing with one of the new products/apps, is effecting MagicJack's interactions with cell phones.

Failure to connect To Home Phone

Post by fmpreusser »

Thanks for the input; it is certainly a recent phenomena, I used to be able to call from cellphone, but this changed in the last few weeks. In fact leaving my area code allows me to access my homephone.I would hope MagicJack support monitors this forum and responds, unless ther is another way to contact them. (chat has been useless to me)
The fact that I can't call my home phone is a major issue to me
Any help is appreciated
