Magic Jack does not start on HP laptop

Post by beam23 »

I have a new HP laptop win7 pro 7 64 bit that I purchase and my MJ does not work on it. I have spen 10+ hours over 2 day chatting to MJ techs 12 different people they even remoted in to my computer, and did something so it would not even start so I had to reload a restore point from 2 weeks ago to get the computer working.
MJ sometime will pop up with the dial pad, but will not display the phone number. after a couple of minutes MJ's blue light goes out.
MJ works fine on different computers
Sometimes I get a TigerJet driver error. All drivers are up to date, and all MS patches up to date
Any ideas

Try changing the Windows compatibly settings to Vista for magicjack.exe and magicjackloader.exe. You can find the compatibility tab if you right click on the program file and choose properties.

I too have Windows Pro 7, 64 bit, and it has several issues. One thing is download and install the XP Mode Software from Windows. That will help 7 connect to all the older software.

It is a must, if you want to use older technology.

I do have XP mode loaded on the laptop. Should I be running Magicjack in XPmode instead of under windows7

For what it's worth, I have been running my MJ with Windows7 for almost a year now with zero problems. Every experience and computer setup is different, but there is nothing inherent about Win7 that makes MJ not work properly.

Very true, what I have found is Windows 7 issues depend upon each computer. Windows 7 is very good and modern, but some of the older software can have a problem.

I have had USB port issues with Magicjack installation on and off on my Windows 7. I use it also on my XP laptop and so far have had no installation problems.
