On 7/24/2011 my MagicJack stopped functioning. Every time I attempt to start MagicJack I receive the message "Warning MagicJack could not start". I tried plugging into a different USB port to no avail. I engaged in a live chat with MagicJack suuport but, after numerous suggestions, the agent I began with couldn't help so I was transferred to one of their top 10% agents who wanted me to run USBScrub, which doesn't support Win 7. When I expressed concern about corrupting my registry I was left in limbo for about 1/2 hour at which point I terminated the chat.
The MagicJack software will start if the MagicJack device is not connected, but then I must use MagicTalk.
I still have no solution to this problem.
MagicJack Support is Virtually Nil

I found a workable solution to my problem at:
http://forums.cnet.com/7723-6121_102-316634.html
Although this particular solution applies to Vista x32 it also worked for my
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 system.
So; I resolved the problem with no help from MagicJack support.
The problem is apparently caused by 3rd party CD-burning software installing invalid/faulty "filters"
on top of the basic CD drivers. If these filters stop working properly windows has problems starting
the driver successfully.
The following steps will modify your Windows Registry, which, if corrupted, can cause
your PC to become unstable or non-bootable. If you don't feel comfortable doing this
then I recommend that you perform a full system backup prior to performing the following steps.
I modified the steps needed to delete these filters as follows:
1. Run regedit
2. Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3. Ensure that the key is highlighted, then:
- click File
- click Export...
- Ensure that Selected branch is marked
- Specify where you want to save the key, type a meaningful File name and click Save
This will save the key in its current state if, for some reason, you have to restore it after
performing steps 4 thru 7
4. Delete the "UpperFilters" entry
5. Delete the "LowerFilters" entry
6. Close regedit
7. Reboot your PC
Note that the 3rd party CD-burning software was installed on my PC before MagicJack and I had no problems starting MagicJack until recently.
