Interesting. When I called I hung up as soon as they said "thank you for calling the Savings Shopping Network". I thought it was a regular business. Looks like all they sell is the MJPlus. I wonder what the odds are that "Sharon" is the one that will actually take your order?
A Google of the "Savings Shopping Network" shows it tied to the infomercials that sold MJ. I don't know if it's correct, but someone posted a while back that the infomercials were done by a re-seller and not MJ itself. Probably Dan's brother-in-law. It does appear that they relied on one of the March/April/May release promises and sent out their advertising inserts a bit prematurely.
In any event, not to ruin Ebay free enterprise, but anyone thinking of pre-ordering for $100 from the Ebay guy might want to call these guys up and pre-order at the regular price. I would still wait to buy one from a retailer so you can get your money back right away if it sucks for you.

I am pretty sure the 800-707-5980 number is an official MagicJack ordering number, not a third party.
The $avings Shopping Network is another Dan Borislow invention as seen in this youtube video:

There is some doubt as to what direct connection it has with MJ. Check near the end of page 2 on this posting where it's stated that the dude in the infomercial, Mel Arthur, owns the SSN (not sure that's true), but is a front for MJ.laserjobs wrote:I am pretty sure the 800-707-5980 number is an official MagicJack ordering number, not a third party.

So I decided to call the number and ask "Sharon" a few questions before I ordered a MJPlus. I was able to get more info from Mel on a too long ad. And it turns out "Sharon" was just an automated ordering gal. So sad.
But here is where it got interesting.
I had called the 800 # above earlier and heard the $49.95 price. Then I fooled around later with 800 #'s on two different SSN infomercials to try to get a direct connect to MJ. The first one was disconnected. The second went through and was 800-814-7606. I then called the above 800 # to talk to "Sharon" and was stunned. At the end of the first short message they said the price was $69.95. I didn't think I heard right so I pressed the pound key when prompted to "get more info", which was Mel. He eventually gets around to price and he too says it's $69.95. WTF. There was a "blip" during the short message so I got curious. I called through my GoogleVoice number and the price was back down to $49.95. I then called again with my MJ number and it was still $49.95. So I called the 800-814-7606 # again, hung up after a few seconds, called the above MJPlus # and the price was back up to $69.95.
Yes, I have WAY too much time on my hands. But whoever is actually running SSN, Dan or Mel, apparently thinks they can get away with charging you $20 more for a MJPlus if you check into a regular MJ first. Shouldn't be surprised I guess. I certainly hope they haven't decided that the regular price is now going to be $69.95, and just haven't changed over all their tape recordings yet, because I don't think that would be too smart.
phone number for mj+

Re: phone number for mj+
I ordered one on 6-9-11;Though I really do not like the ordering system. I hate it. I would rather talk to a human or use an online form.scotty200 wrote:hi

Like someone else said there's something screwy about the price when you try to order. As a precaution I recorded the transaction. When I first called in the automated system, quoted 49.95, but I wasn't ready to order. So I got ready and call back with all my information ready, I think I was calling from the same number, but the automated system then quoted 69.95.
So I kept calling back from different phone numbers until I got the automated system to quote 49.95, and then proceeded with the order.
One of the things I did not like about the ordering system is they made a verbal recording of your street address, and e-mail address. So it is questionable that the data entry people will get the information correct.
The credit card information was entered using the keypad, the next day there was one dollar pending on my credit card account, but that was never charged and so far I have received no charge on my account.
One of the worrying things is so far I have not received an e-mail confirmation.
And like everyone else I don't like that there seems to be no way to talk to a human, and there is practically no company information. So it is questionable if it is even a reputable business.
I don't recall (or didn't notice) anything that said that this was a pre-order. So this gives me the impression that they have them in stock and will ship them out immediately. On completion of the order it said the delivery time should be 10-14 business days.
So far I have not received mine.
Another thing I do not like about the ordering system, is that it is so archaic and poor that it took me over 25 minutes to place an order. I'm sure they lose a lot of orders because people get frustrated and quit. They obviously don't care much about the customer's time and customer service.
Once they get all your information and have made their initial sale, they try to get you to buy more magic jacks and to purchase more years. I think they wanted $100 for five years, though that is cheaper than other companies, I think the years can sometimes be purchased for less on sale. I don't know what the current price is at magic Jack because my legacy magic Jack doesn't work.

This is not an "official" MagicJackPlus ordering number. They may be a front for MJ as has been suggested, but I sincerely doubt they have them "in stock" since they are not being offered for sale anywhere on the MagicJack web page.
And while some seem to be in a rush to get one, my personal opinion would be to wait until they are available at a retail store. With all the prior posts on difficulties returning the regular MJ, why risk losing your money? I'm sure the same lousy and confusing return system will be in place for the Plus. I wouldn't risk not being able to return it or taking forever to get my money back, instead of just taking it back to a Wal-Mart or Best Buy for my instant refund.

more stalling
I finally received my e-mail confirmation. (About 14 business days after placing my order)
If I recall correctly: when I placed my order the recorded statement said something like most orders should be received within 10 to 14 business days. Instead of getting my order in 10 to 14 business days; I get an e-mail after about 14 business days, telling me that they will start shipping the magic Jack plus in about two more weeks. So the phone message when I placed the order gave me the impression that they had the magic Jack plus in stock and would be shipping them out immediately. However now it seems that the magic Jack plus may not be shipped until over one month after I placed my original order. So as is apparently typical with the magic Jack company, the delivery date seems to be optimistic and misleading.
The company seems that is taking the orders seems to be a front for magic Jack or somehow affiliated with magic Jack; because the return address on the e-mail is magicJack.com and the order confirmation links in the e-mail is magicJack.com.
When I first placed the order, it took nearly a half an hour to place the order, so it gave an option for five additional years, regretfully I chose yes. I regretfully chose yes at the time, because I didn't want to have to wait a half an hour again at a later date to add additional years; but that was flawed thinking because of the frustration of having to wait nearly about a half an hour to place an order. I still have five years on my previous magic Jack, which I'm not using because that magic Jack doesn't work well enough to be practical. So I canceled the additional five years on my magic Jack plus because I want to make sure it works right and is practical before I order additional years, and I suspect that I can purchase additional years at a lower price.
I canceled the additional five years of my magic Jack plus within 3 to 4 hours of receiving the e-mail confirmation. On the magic Jack site it now seems to indicate that the additional years were removed from my order.
(On a related side note: I thought that some of the advertising and sales of the original magic Jack was deceptive. I responded to an ad in the banner of the magic Jack application that said something like get five additional years at a discount sale. I ordered the additional five years, the amount of money was billed to my credit card, but I noticed that only four additional years were added to my account. I contacted magic Jack support to complain that I was shorted a year, and they told me that it was five years total including the year that was already on the magic Jack. I went around in circles with the magic Jack representatives because they would not honor their advertising. I found that policy to be deceptive, misleading and dishonest; so I contacted the Better Business Bureau and some other agencies and eventually magic Jack gave me another year on my account to make it more in accordance to their advertising.)
So if you order additional years, I suggest that you check your account later and verify that you actually got what you ordered. I would also suggest keeping documentation and taking screenshots to make sure that they don't pull any funny business later.
Below is a copy of the e-mail confirmation that I had received. My personal information has been redacted.

Re: the magicjack plus
I placed my order for a magic Jack plus about 30 days ago and still have not received it. Unless I missed it, there was no language indicating that it was a pre-order. The language that was used gave me the impression that I should receive the magic Jack and 10 to 15 business days. About 15 business days later I received an e-mail stating that the magic Jack would be shipped in about two more weeks. Two weeks after the e-mail, and my order is still not shipped, according to the online order status at magic Jack.scotty200 wrote:hi poorman

You may be SOL. The regular MJ 30 day free trial runs from the day you order it from them, not the day you receive it. Of course they can't be that cold-hearted if it's not even available yet, can they?PoorMan wrote:

There has been some shady stuff going on with my order. I placed my order for the magic Jack plus over a month and a half ago, and according to my online status the product still had not been shipped. So I went to the MJ chat service to complain and try to get things into order. They claimed that the transaction was not authorized. That story sounds suspicious because my credit card was in good standing and if I recall correctly after I received my confirmation e-mail there was one dollar pending on my credit card to magic Jack Corporation. I'm wondering if the transaction was declined because the merchant (the magic Jack company) is not in good standing?
(Perhaps they had the shipment on hold because they don't have the product in stock and haven't met their delivery date and their promises were to aggressive, so the failed transaction story might have been a dishonest and incompetent attempt at plausible deniability? Perhaps the merchant has so many complaints from the credit card companies and disgruntled customers wanting refunds on their credit cards or in the process of being contested; that payments to magic Jack by the credit card company were denied? Perhaps the magic Jack company just screwed up the order and didn't want to admit it? )
Apparently the line of questioning that I had for the magic Jack employee, had them running scared, the individual suddenly posted a dishonest blurb then disconnected without giving me a chance to contest.
Here is a copy of the transcript of the chat with my personal information removed.

Randy: Alright. No worries on that, ****. If any chances the order or payment will still not go through, you may chat us back anytime. Please save and refer this ticket ID: *************** as our chat reference for you not to start over again. You may ask for my name or any available Supervisor to assist you.
Randy: Have a nice day ahead!
Since we haven't heard from you, we must release this chat. Please click here should you need further assistance: www.magicJack.com/techchat
the last few times i was asking stuff about MJP they did that to me too "Since we haven't heard from you, we must release this chat. Please click here should you need further assistance: www.magicJack.com/techchat " they are starting to be nasty
Magic Jack chat used to have a timestamp and have an option that you could send a copy of your chat log to your e-mail. I think magic Jack company discontinued the timestamp because it was demonstrating how much they were neglecting customers frequently leaving them waiting for 5 to 20 min. at a time and how they were wasting hours of customers time. I think they discontinued the option to have your chat logs e-mailed to yourself and/or others; because I think it made it very easy to document and distribute magic Jack's customer neglect, abuse, crooked practices and incompetence.scotty200 wrote:the last few times i was asking stuff about MJP they did that to me too "Since we haven't heard from you, we must release this chat. It seems obvious that they are using the "Since we haven't heard from you, we must release this chat" line as a way to abuse customers that are standing up to the abuse, neglect and crooked practices.
The magic Jack employee disconnected before I could even respond. It sounds like they also played this fraudulent game with you.
Magic Jack personnel still seem to be trying to boondoggle me about why my magic Jack plus hasn't been shipped and when it is going to get shipped. Despite ordering my magic Jack plus over a month and a half ago, it apparently still hasn't been shipped. The top 10% "supervisor" that I talked to today seem to contradict himself, and seemed to make a Freudian slip, that seem to indicate that the supervisor was trying to flimflam me. In the early part of the chat he seemed to indicate that the order was in the shipping department/warehouse; however in the last line of the chat he seemed to indicate that the order was in the verification state, which would seem to indicate that the order hasn't reached the shipping stage yet. So I get the impression that I am still being lied to by magic Jack personnel.
The following is chat log today with magic Jack. My name and other personal information has been censored/changed. My typos and bad grammar are included:

John Doe: I ordered a magic Jack plus on 6-9-11. IIRC the recording said that most customers receive the product within 14 business days. After about 14 business days I still hadn?t received the magic Jack plus, I received an e-mail confirmation stating that my magic Jack bus should be shipped within two weeks. IIRC after I received my e-mail confirmation about 14 days after placing my order, there was a one dollar pending charge just placed on my credit card. Two weeks after I received the e-mail, the order information at magic Jack?s website indicates that my magic Jack plus still hasn?t been shipped. So apparently over a month and a half later my magic Jack plus still hasn?t been shipped. I?m wondering what is wrong?
John Doe: Yesterday I was told in magic Jack's chat by Randy that the product has not shipped yet because the transaction was declined. My credit card is in good standing, so I am skeptical of this claim. After I received my e-mail confirmation there was a one dollar pending charge from magic Jack on my credit card. Why was I sent an e-mail confirmation and why was one dollar pending on my credit card if the transaction wasn't approved or tentatively approved? It gives me the suspicion that the magic Jack company is doing some crooked shenanigans. By trying to buy time by crookedly juggling and stalling orders? Or perhaps payment was denied because the magic Jack company has so many credit card claims against it?
Ermin: K
John Doe: I feel that if the transaction was denied, that I should have been notified immediately by e-mail and/or phone; so that the problems could be resolved in a professional and timely manner. Unfortunately it seems that the magic Jack company has chosen to neglect the customer. I think that the magic Jack company should make customer service and professionalism more of a priority to try to give their company a good reputation, instead of the bad one that they have.
John Doe: The magic Jack personnel Randy crookedly disconnected the chat before resolving the issue claiming "Since we haven't heard from you, we must release this chat" the truth is that Randy posted that and dumped the chat so quick is that he didn't give me an honest chance to respond. I've conversed to other alleged magic Jack customers, and they claim that they also have had their chats disconnected in the same dishonest manner. The magic Jack chat used to have a timestamp on it, I would recommend bringing back the timestamp as a way to prevent your employees from abusing/neglecting customers. Unfortunately it seems that customer service is a very low priority the magic Jack company.
John Doe: Randy told me the order was placedon the 6-29-11. However I placed the order on 6-9-11. Randy told me to re place the order and the credit card information. I hope this doesn't put me at the back of the line and result in being billed twice. I placed my order over a month and a half ago, and my magic Jack Plus still hasn't been shipped.
John Doe: I resubmitted my billing information yesterday. Today my magic Jack is still not indicating shipped.
Ermin: Thank you for waiting. I'll be with you in just a moment.
Ermin: ok
John Doe: 2:05 PM and waiting
Ermin: K
Ermin: here is the thing, i will send a report for this so they will be able to take care of this problem,
John Doe: I've already been waiting for over a month and a half. It would be nice if this problem could be resolved now, instead of just submitting a report.
Ermin: im afraid we do not have option to resolve this right now, because the problem is on shipping department end, i have to inform them on what happen with the order so they will be able to go further option on the matter
John Doe: This is my third time since I've placed the order that I have contacted magic Jack trying to resolve these issues
John Doe: About a month ago when I went to look up the status of my order, I couldn't even bring my order up.
John Doe: Yesterday I was told it was the shipping department. Yesterday I was told that there was a problem authorizing the payment. Now today I'm being told it is a shipping problem.
John Doe: correction yesterday I wasn't told it was the shipping department
Ermin: [S]hipment Pending on shipping dept. status as i checked.
John Doe: That's what I was told yesterday.
John Doe: about a month and a half ago I was told that most customers get their order within two weeks
John Doe: Then about 20 days after that, I was told that it would be shipped in two weeks. Now it's about a month later and apparently it still hasn't even been shipped yet
John Doe: It seems like every step of the way that the magic Jack company is dropping the ball
John Doe: These issues need to be resolved. I've already been waiting for over a month and a half
Ermin: I understand your point but this is the only option we have here to rectify the problem
John Doe: the way to rectify the problem is to ship it
John Doe: Your just giving me more lip service. I've been getting lip service for a bout a month
John Doe: After being wrong so many times, why should I have faith?
Ermin: I will be right with you.
Ermin: ok
John Doe: it's 2:25 PM.
Ermin: i will send a report rigth after our chats for this issue
John Doe: Is it policy to disconnect from the customer without giving them a chance to respond? and without resolving the issues? if not Randy should be fired. He disconnected the chat before answering my questions and resolving the issues.
John Doe: From what I've heard from other customers, magic Jack employees often use these tactics
Ermin: there are some issues that can't be resolve while the customer is online
Ermin: there are necessary reports that should be made to resolve it
John Doe: I've been trying to solve these problems for over a month.
John Doe: The problems should have been addressed then before letting things fester
John Doe: I want this and all the previous chats in the report
John Doe: This type of abuse is why magic Jack has such a bad reputation
John Doe: The magic Jack company needs to start taking customer service seriously
Ermin: its the shipping department that should fix this, im sending the report after our conversation
John Doe: Okay I'll check again tomorrow
Ermin: ok
John Doe: But like I said yesterday the excuse that was given, was that the payment was not authorized. for one reason or another I've been stalled for over a month and a half
John Doe: All check again tomorrow. Goodbye
Ermin: that staus will appear only when the device is on its way, as of the moment it is still on verification stage

Perhaps I will take your advice either way.
Someone already gave me the alleged e-mail of Dan several months ago, and told me to try it but don't hold your breath. I tried e-mailing Dan with the e-mail address that was given to me, I still have not received a response in over six months.
It gives me the impression that the apparent attitude and policy of poor customer support and poor customer relations starts from the top and works its way down.
over a month and a half after I placed my magic jack plus order, and after several days of contacting magic Jack customer support chat. My order information still indicates. To:[email protected]
Would like a prerelease magic Jack plus and/or help with my magic Jack.
Date:Fri, 28 Jan 2011 6:48 PM
I was hoping if I could get a pre-release of the magic Jack plus. If
not I was hoping that you could help get my magic Jack working right.
I’ve called contacted magic Jack support dozens of times just in the
last year, yet I’m still having frequent chronic and severe problems
with my magic Jack.
The following is the opening information I gave the last time I tried to
contact technical support at magic Jack; yet again the problems were not
resolved.
=====
I’ve been having problems with my magic Jack program; erroneously
hanging up on people, erroneously putting people on hold, and the
program crashing. The typical mode of failure, is first typically the
magic Jack erroneously puts the call on hold, then typically a few
seconds later the magic Jack erroneously hangs up on the caller, then
typically a few seconds later the magic Jack program crashes, then
typically a few seconds later I then get a pop-up warning from my
computer: program compatibility assistant, this program might not have
been installed correctly, try reinstalling using the settings that are
compatible with this version of Windows, program; unknown program,
unknown publisher, location X:/AutoRun.exe. Then typically a few seconds
later, I then get another pop-up warning from my computer stating that I
have both firewalls turned off.
Also frequently the blue light on the magic Jack goes out, and I get a
message from my computer stating that the USB device has failed. Then
often the magic Jack opens my browser to the magic Jack website with the
resource hog auto play video commercial.
Also sometimes when I boot the magic Jack light goes out shortly after
the boot, and despite the fact that the magic Jack is connected to the
USB the magic Jack start up menue says that the magic Jack has to be
plugged into the USB to run magic Jack. Then instead of starting the
magic Jack program, it pops up a magic TALK pop-up asking for
registration, and starts the magic TALK program. Then often the magic
Jack opens my browser to the magic Jack website with the resource hog
auto play video commercial.
I’ve had this device for over a year, and it never has worked properly.
I would like the problems resolved.
When magic Jack technicians tell me to change Internet Protocol Version
4(TCP/IPv4), typically shortly afterwards my Explorer and Firefox
browsers will lose their Internet connection. Often I have to reboot
several times or use system restore to get my browsers to work right
again.
I’ve added the following to my trusted websites.
https://my.magicjack.com
https://reg.talk4free.com
Linksys BEFW11s4 Firmware version 1.52.06
http://192.168.1.1/
I have two ports designated for magic Jack under ports forwarded, Named
"MJ1" ports 5060 5070...DMZ Host enabled.
Despite apparently disabling the software and hardware the magic Jack
continues to malfunction. Despite adding the magic Jack website
addresses to trusted websites; the magic Jack program continues to
malfunction. Despite removing software that had alleged possible
conflicts with magic Jack; the magic Jack program continues to
malfunction. Despite having a different computer and a different version
of operational software; the magic Jack continues to malfunction. I’ve
had magic Jack technicians try to tell me to use different USB ports;
despite trying all the different USB ports, the magic Jack continues to
malfunction. I’ve even had magic Jack technicians tell me to try to use
a powered USB hub; yet the magic Jack continues to malfunction even when
using a powered USB hub. I’ve had magic Jack technicians tell me to use
or not to use a USB extension cord; the magic Jack continues to
malfunction whether or not a USB extension is used.
The diagnostic trees that magic Jack technicians are using; often
doesn’t quite match my version of Windows, or my version of router
firmware. Regretfully for some reason or another, it seems I often get
disconnected from magic Jack technicians. Sometimes the settings that
are changed, affects the connections. Sometimes during the use of remote
assistance, it acts like a control or alt button is depressed by the
magic Jack technician, because when they asked me to respond; when I try
to type strange things start happening, like browsers and chat windows
close. Ect…
=======
Is there a chance I might be able to get a pre-release of the magic Jack
plus; so hopefully I won’t have to continue with all these problems? I’m
hoping that the magic Jack plus is reliable and doesn’t have all these
issues.
Thanks **** *****
Since I placed the e-mail to Dan of magic Jack; I ordered net talk. Net talk isn't perfect, but is vastly superior to the regular magic Jack.Shipping Status
Your order has not yet been shipped
When I placed my order to net talk, I got to talk to an actual human, that spoke American English, with a Chicago, Detroit or Toledo accent. I could actually understand the person that I talked to, and they seem to actually care and take the time to try to properly address your issues and questions.
Even though net talk didn't have a phone number available for my area, I ordered net talk anyway and used a Google number to forward calls, so that local people would not have to pay long distance to call me.
I'm hoping that magic Jack plus will be as good as net talk or better. Unfortunately it seems like that magic Jack customer support and customer relations is still absolutely horrible.

that not totally true u still cant call them for help so that sucks and i think that if it cost more yearly then we who are from Canada shod go Nettalk as u dont pay extra for a Canada number and it only 29.95 a year with the increase of the MJP 29.95 a year plus 10.00 for Canada number 40.00 a year now that still ok i guess but that make NT cheaper now and u can call them for helpluv2uallday wrote:Ok talked to customer no service for MJ and the agent said 69.95 and 29.95 a yr so according to the responce it's no different than netTALK. Their biggenst new thing is to be the same as their competitor. So dissapointing
