Using MJ Plus on existing Magic Jack account
Is anyone planning to use their MJ Plus on an already active MJ account?
I wondering if MJ will have any specific promotion for current users wishing to upgrade?
I've been waiting for MJPlus for a while now, eliminate having a PC on all the time, but I don't want to go through the hassle of a number change.

Let us know how it goes and what, if anything, is involved!scotty200 wrote:i am also going to transfer my number when i get mjp hopefully will order it next Friday
Hopefully it's as simple as entering the old info in during the signup phase. Although, we're voluntarily giving up the 1 yr free, I assume.

Obviously not sure how they will do it. But you shouldn't lose the free year on the Plus. They may have changed how they do it recently, but last year when I bought a new device with time left on the old and transferred the number to the new, my service reset to one year from the day I registered the new device.TheDoctah wrote: Hopefully it's as simple as entering the old info in during the signup phase. They didn't offer me the option at the time, or it wasn't available, but apparently you can now keep the same number on 2 devices. Back then they just transferred the number and deactivated my old device.
They may screw it up, but you would think they would handle adding a Plus the same way they now handle adding another regular MJ. Time will tell
i think u have to give up what left of the year on the number your porting if i have to give up my new year i will send it back and get a NT as on the mj i got only over a month left and that wold be to costly to me to have to pay 40.00 to renew after i just payed 69.99 i don't think mj will last if it keep screwing people of money and phone time

I just chatted with our buddies at Customer Service. The usual disclaimer is that if you go ask them chances are 50/50 you won't get the exact same answer. Especially in this case since at first his answer was that, "yes you can have 2 numbers on one device", and then after I clarified that wasn't at all what I was asking, every answer after that was "yes sure you can".scotty200 wrote:i think u have to give up what left of the year on the number your porting if i have to give up my new year i will send it back and get a NT as on the mj i got only over a month left and that wold be to costly to me to have to pay 40.00 to renew after i just payed 69.99 i don't think mj will last if it keep screwing people of money and phone time
That said, he specifically said "yes sure you can" to:
1) Having the same number on your regular MJ and a new Plus.
2) Getting your full year of service on the Plus.
3) Keeping what was left of the time on your regular MJ.
If I was going to buy a new Plus and any of those 3 items were a concern to me, I would chat with at least 2 different people at CS to see if I received the same answer. And then I would still keep my fingers crossed.
i also chatted with them they told me they could not transfer the remaining years so if u got the 5 year plan your out of luck that totally unfair and not honest Business i think if u got the 5 year they should transfer that as u payed a lot to get that thank god i only have 1 - 1/2 month left so that not to bad
shame on you Dan !

At least they are not closing the old account and the old minutes get dropped, which is what they did to me late last year. Not sure how much good it will do the average user to have 2 active devices. But if you had a relative/close friend you could give/sell your old device to them with the remaining time and for $10 they could get a new number on that device.

They told me on a prior, prior chat that under the 2 device/computer, 1 phone number scenario, that both devices would ring. I assume the reverse could be true. Dialing into the system with the same number on 2 devices might be an issue, I'm sure others know way more about that then me. But I can't imagine it wouldn't work if the relative changed the number for the $10.scotty200 wrote: i wonder can u call out on both at the same time ?

porting current mj number to mjp
I spoke with two different CSR (you know if you look at those initials and use your imagination it does stand for what those people do.) anyways, both told me that the price is $69.99 and that you get a new number and at this time they do not have a way to port it.

Re: porting current mj number to mjp
There is a difference between porting and adding a new Plus to an existing MJ account with the same number.beachinmoney wrote:I spoke with two different CSR (you know if you look at those initials and use your imagination it does stand for what those people do.) anyways, both told me that the price is $69.99 and that you get a new number and at this time they do not have a way to port it.
