Well...I converted...
I’m sorry to hear all of the problems you guys are experiencing with the MJ+. Luckily, after much research and deliberation, I opted for the NetTalk Duo, and I can honestly say my experience so far has surpassed my expectations in terms of performance and Customer Service. It has been working flawlessly with my number ported over for no additional yearly fee. There are no weird tones whatsoever, and I love that I have caller ID, which has perfect date and time and lets my block annoying telemarketers. It’s not an exaggeration when people say it’s customer service is a huge advantage over MJ. The moderators in their forums work in the actual company and some even work closely with their Engineers. They have a very well laid out “ticket” system for all problems that operates 24/7 in a very professional and user friendly website UI. I get almost immediate responses from their reps within the hour of shooting them an email. I feel like I’m a customer of a small company who gets all the important attention where my questions are taken seriously, instead of the craptastic way AT&T treated me, and others, as its customer.
I hope you guys are able to solve the problems with your MJ+. Even so, everyone’s saving a ton already. So if you haven’t already, FIRE YOUR MONOPOLISTIC PHONE COMPANY!

Interesting since per NetTalk, they still do not even offer porting yet.ctbear wrote: I opted for the NetTalk Duo, and I can honestly say my experience so far has surpassed my expectations in terms of performance and Customer Service. Per this post dated 9-20-2011 on their forum, they plan on it being available in a month or two:

Anything else about your review, that belongs in another part of this forum, that is total B/S?

No need to be so sour. You're quite right indeed. They are still in beta testing. There is no reason for me to lie to you. I am merely telling you my own experience thus far, and you can take it for what it's worth. Look at my post history, I have been anxious and waiting for the pass 6 months for the MJ+ release. I believed and hoped it would be a game changer, until very recently. I too have been debating for the longest time between the two and eager to fire my phone company to save money.nailgunner wrote:Interesting since per NetTalk, they still do not even offer porting yet.ctbear wrote: I opted for the NetTalk Duo, and I can honestly say my experience so far has surpassed my expectations in terms of performance and Customer Service. I apologize to the mods in advance if this topic should be in the other part of the forum. I didn't see that till now. Anyways, I've only been active in this specific part of the forum with regards to the MJ+

Not sour. But since the post is from a guy who works for the company and says they are testing it internally only, and is pretty much confirmed by this post, I call b/s :ctbear wrote:No need to be so sour. Maybe you should post on that forum and inform everyone waiting there that the beta testing is now public.

Nope, it's still closed beta as far as I know, but that only confirms that the feature is quite close to release and vengy's estimate is accurate.nailgunner wrote:Not sour. Lucky for you that you just stumbled into an internal beta test.ctbear wrote:Nope, it's still closed beta as far as I know, but that only confirms that the feature is quite close to release and vengy's estimate is accurate.
In any event, not sure how it's a selling point of a review when it's not available publicly yet and they have had multiple false starts over the last few years.

Since the update I haven't heard a single beep, any comments from other updated MJ+'s are welcomed. Before the update I got a total of two beeps in three weeks of operation.ctbear wrote: I hope you guys are able to solve the problems with your MJ+. Even so, everyone’s saving a ton already. Although others are having time & date issues with the MJ+ in stand alone mode my DishNetwork HD receivers caller ID display / history work fine.
I'm pretty sure since the time and date can be pulled from the Internet it's just a matter of one or two more updates till they solve this issue on the new device.
When it comes to VoIP I recommend you use the device you think will work best for you, I have already placed my bet with MJ+ for at least the next six years.
Best of luck with your choice.

I've been around VoIP long enough to know it's more about packet flow,Jitter, and the equipment at your local ISP, for many VoIP will never work correctly and it has little to do with the in house Voip equipment or program that you are running.scotty200 wrote:my MJP works for the most part but it gives me trouble more times then not after there last update it did not make my calls clear there choppy and it getting annoying i cant return it now as they wold not let me that kinda sucks i wish i wold have went with the nettalk but because i cold not port my number i tried mjp hopefully in time it will get better if not o well i will try nettalk i guess it just better work if i do

If you get chopping sounds, 99% of the time you can blame your ISP not the VoIP provider.
If you can't get it to work good in the first two or three weeks by all means get your money back!, the only exception to that rule is if your are going to travel with the device, some of the places I visit have excellent Internet service and the MJ works great.
Happy Holidays!

I agree both the Mj and the Nettalk have there problems and aren't perfect. Both device get a bad rap at time when in reality it is the ISP or non compatible router causing the problem. I had major issues with both devices until I changed my ISP to another provider and the difference was like night and day. Your ISP can make or break your voip experience.Matt9876 wrote:I've been around VoIP long enough to know it's more about packet flow,Jitter, and the equipment at your local ISP, for many VoIP will never work correctly and it has little to do with the in house Voip equipment or program that you are running.scotty200 wrote:my MJP works for the most part but it gives me trouble more times then not after there last update it did not make my calls clear there choppy and it getting annoying i cant return it now as they wold not let me that kinda sucks i wish i wold have went with the nettalk but because i cold not port my number i tried mjp hopefully in time it will get better if not o well i will try nettalk i guess it just better work if i do

In a long response, they said that most routers implement the SIP ALG incorrectly and that's the real reason for turning it off.
I hope it helps.
