Hi. I apologize in advance if this question has been asked before, but there was so much info using so many different terms that It was daunting to find a specific answer for my question.
My question: months ago I accidentally rigged a tigerjet dongle to work with google voice bypassing MJ service altogether, kind of by accident. It was on a toshiba satellite laptop.
No I am on a dell optiplex GX620, and trying to re-create my results I am having a hard time. What I want to do, is use the tigerjet directly with google voice as I did before.
Can someone here tell me how to do that? I don't want MJ software or service. Just to be able to use the dongle for google voice.
Not possible any longer...
You may want to look into an Obi110 or OBi100 to do exactly what you want.
Amazon sells them. I have an OBi100 myself and use it with GV with no problem. I have my MJ number forwared to my GV number and all works well.
No PC needed as the OBI plugs into your router.
You may want to read the alternatives to mj section on this forum for more info on the Obi and others...
hey! Thanks.
I guess Just caught it at the right time there for a month? darn.
here's my dilemma:
The router for our phone is upstairs two floors up. I get good wireless reception down here, except there is not hard LAN connection. I was hoping to somehow access the google voice through my computer, using the wireless it receives from upstairs.
Any ideas on how to solve my problem?
also a question?
Since I didn't use MJ as a service before, and i haven't changed the dongle, what DID change that makes it unusable>? Google voice block it or something?
With the Obi, why not just hook up a cordless phone base upstairs by the router and then put the handsets through out the house. This also works with the MJ and the MJ+. Of course you can use GV via the PC and then have it call your landilne, but with the OBi GV works via a phone, you get a dial tone and everything with no PC at all....Pick up and dial or answer when someone calls.
Not sure as maybe you used to have your MJ forwarded to your GV # or visa versa..As far as I know MJ never worked through GV ( unless you had GV set to call your MJ when it's number was called.
MJ started blocking some numbers and exchanges and maybe your GV # was one of them.. Just a guess.
So you're saying I can use google voice by plugging my phone into my PC somehow?
Yes, i think the OBI is the thing for me, but i share a flat with other roommates, so putting my phone line through the house might not do. hm. ideas ideas.
Thanks!

NO PHONE LINE NEEDED.. You hook up the OBi to your PC/router. Then you plug a cordless phone base INTO the OBi. You bring the handsets to the phone downstairs. Now you have a phone or two ( depeneding on how many handsets come with your cordless base, some come with as many as 5) downstairs to use your GV with...
