[Solved]MagicJack stops working daily
So here is my issue. Sorry if this was mentioned but I have not seen it posted anywhere after 2 days of searching.
Every day (sometimes every other day) my magic jack just stops working. The interface is still up on my screen and looks normal. We will get a text or call on our cell from someone saying our home phone is not working. We then check and are unable to make outbound calls either. If I restart the magic jack software or unplug and re-plug the magic jack from the USB port everything starts working until the next day or so.
When the problem presents itself we are not seeing any errors and nothing stands out as a key that its not working. Unless I check the phone line all the time I would never know. During this time as well my internet is fine.
Currently running
Magic Jack USB (no USB extension attached)
Win 7 - 64bit
4GB Ram
Comcast ISP
Any suggestions?

Have you checked to see if none ( there are more than one) USB root hubs ( in device manager) are NOT set for power save mode? This could cause exactly the same problem you are having.MileHighHitman wrote:So here is my issue. Sorry if this was mentioned but I have not seen it posted anywhere after 2 days of searching.

Great call!! All of my root hubs had the option checked to let the computer turn off the hub to save power. I unchecked them and will now keep an eye on it.
Thanks for the reply.

I will keep you posted. I would be surprised if it was my ports not having enough power. My system is a BEAST.bitstopjoe wrote:Cool I hope this fixes it. Keep us posted...
IF, per chance, this doesnt fix it, it is POSSIBLE your USB ports don't have quite enough power and you may need a POWERED usb hub..

I am having the same problem as original poster. I run my original MJ on a HP Thin Client (5700 series w/512 RAM and 1.2MHz). I checked the USB root Hub and none are checked for power saving mode. I should note that this issue is pretty recent 93 months or so), given that I have been using the same thin client and MJ for the last 2 years. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
