Phone goes silent once call connects

Ok, this is happening sporadically. I have checked another phone, and it does the same thing, so no, it's not the phone itself. I try to place a call, i can hear the dial tone, and the tones of the number dialing, but once it connects, the phone will be silent. I hear nothing, and no-one hears me. Again, it's not always, but about 50% of the time i'd say. Also, when the keys on the phone are pressed, although i don't hear anything else, i hear the tones. Any help is appreciated, gotta be something i'm missing. Thanks All!

Tried the update, but still happening, not as often it seems. I had another one, or still actually have it, and now use this one with a more local number. The old one worked fine, it's just when i installed this one a few weeks ago the problem started.
