Want to help obtain credentials
I've been looking for info on how to reverse SIP info and apparently this has been dead in the water for a while. I wanted to do what I can to help figure out Authentication reversal so credentials can be used with other VOIP software. From what I've gathered so far magic jack software takes the credentials to the registered user merges with a time date stamp and sends the md5 hash to the server. If there is any other knowledge and other people working on this that could use help, I'd like to do what I can. I am already able to obtain the MD5 and sipdump info from my MJ.
You could try something like this http://www.md5decrypter.co.uk/ and see if it works. I just don't think there are enough people that to go through all the trouble of getting ata's working with MJ again. It was great while it lasted though.
MJ promised and never delivered BYOD. Early on many users grabbed their sip credentials and very successfully used them in high quality ATA devices.
MJ then first started to use MD5 hash and a simple algorithm for authentication. Later they changed to a non-standard algorithm.
While this new algorithm could probably be broken and used; MJ would most likely just change it to a new non-standard one.
Most decided at that time to stop playing wack-a-mole and moved on to devices like the OBi110/100 and use Google Voice or other cheap voip providers with them instead of bothering anymore with MJ.
Most smart folks are catching on to the fact that with services who require you to use their proprietary device you become locked in as far as moving to which ever voip provider offers the cheapest/best voip service later on.
