Static on incoming calls; [sometimes]
For the past few years, I've had static frequently, but not constantly on the incoming voice, according to my callers, my voice is fine. I attributed this to the old computer I had the MJ attached to and just lived with it as I use my cell most of the time.
When I saw that the MJ+ would connect directly to my router, I thought this would solve the issue. Not so. Still get static occasionally.
I'm using ATT DSL 2Wire wireless router and only have one non-wireless computer {and now MJ+} hooked to it. Although I have a wireless printer and laptop which have access. I'm supposed to have the ATT Extreme but sometimes I wonder. Have never measured 3, on a good day about 2.
Anyone using ATT DSL having this issue?

Me Too!!
I've got the Magic Jack Plus and I'm getting the same thing. Only my incoming calls have static. It's between 1/3 and 1/2 of them that are so bad I can barely tell who is calling. I've tried it plugged directly in the router (ATT 2wire wireless modem/router) and also running through a quad-core computer with 6GB of memory. Same effect either way!! I've got till the end of Jan 2012 to figure out and then my wife runs over it with the van

I had a problem with my 2wire. switched to netopia/motorola combo and it works great. Whether you have dry dsl or landline/dsl combo, you wanna make sure that all the extra house wiring(not being used) has been removed from the mix. I also ran a cat5 feed from At&t to the modem jack(maybe overkill, but can't hurt). If you have a 3mb dsl then you'll probably see 2.4mb on a speed test. Any less than that and you're losing bandwith somewhere. If you have the patience you can always plug your modem directly into the customer interface on the side of the house. Run your speed/quality test from there. If it's better at that point then you may have an issue in the home. If it still seems to be bad at that point then you can request a dsl tech to come out and check the line(at no cost to you). There are lots of things in the field that can affect dsl service.

I'll try that
I've got another DSL Modem and a LInksys Wireless router I can try. I liked the idea of the combo (less to manage) but if splitting functions helps then it's worth it.

I was having same problems.......low volume....static......problem solved.
Just bought the Panasonic KX-TG4132 from Best Buy on sale for $55. No more static and much improved volume. It could be a little louder but if you need really loud look into the hearing impaired cordless phones. They are about $25 more but you can crank the volume. I had a crappy GE digital phone. I think that was for sure the problem. Don't spend under $50 if you want a decent phone.

Static on line
Purchased a MJ+ 2 weeks ago and had nothing but static on the line. Came across a suggested solution on another site that said to hook MJ or MJ+ directly into a powered USB hub. Thought I'd try it out. Happened to have a Belkin 4 port hub in my house that I was not using. Plugged my MJ+ directly into it and... SUCCESS! Absolutely no static and perfectly clear calls. Many thanks to roosterguy for his suggestion and many thanks to MJ for saving me over $1100 a year!!!
That is easy, make sure that you have all the right audio codecs for the computer if you are using a regular magicjack. Just download the divx program it has all the codecs needed for it to work properly. And for the magicjack plus just add the 5060 and 5070 ports to portforwarding or activate the DMZ or demilitarized zone on your router and that should fix your problem
