Suddenly calls go directly to voicemail...have an idea, but.

Post by ragtag »

Have had no problems with original MJ or the new MJ+ I got a couple months ago until this morning. Now all incoming calls to directly to voicemail. I have a theory, but don't know how to proceed.

My wife tried to answer a call this morning and she may have pushed a button on our cordless phone which put the call on hold or call waiting or something (in the MJ system, not on our cordless phone...I know we do not have any call on hold with the actual phone.)

So MJ thinks we are still on a call, maybe? So all subsequent incoming calls go to voicemail? I can, however, still dial out.

How can I access MJ and make sure there are no calls hanging on hold out there? Or would this not even be something that could happen?

I am using MJ+ with no computer.

Thanks,
Rag

Try unplugging it from the power and plugging it back in.

Yeah, I tried that before I posted and it didn't work. What just did work, thanks to their online chat, was to reset the voicemail. The tech had me plug the MJ+ into the computer and she sent a link to a .dmg file (I run Mac) which download the software again and apparently that reset the voicemail. I guess this is how you reset voicemail?

Anyway, as of an hour or so ago it's working again.

Thanks, and hope this helps others.

That is weird. I wonder what she hit to hose it up? Was she in the voicemail when she hit the button(s) or on a call?

I don't think it matters. I had the same problem and just plugged the MJ+ into my MAC and tested it an had a ring, so I plugged back into the wall and all is well. They did nothing.

Straight to voicemail - My Fix

Post by barkgrove2 »

Hi, had this same problem - mj+ just started going to voicemail without ringing. I have it plugged into my dlink wireless router. Haven't had a problem at all, ever. Noticed on my e-mail that I had a voicemail message but I had been home and phone didn't ring, had the same problem this a.m.

I unplugged the mj+ from the router and electricity and "rebooted" it as per the normal response form live chat. Still didn't work. Brought it upstairs and plugged it directly into my USB - still nothing. Went into MENU and down at the bottom there is the "restart". I clicked on that and voila !! back in business. More than likely I got lucky, might work for you, might not, but there is another thing to try so you don't have to waste your life with live chat. good luck

I found out that I was having the same problem when my daughter called today on my cell phone and informed me that the MJ+ was going straight to voice mail. Did as "barkgrove2" said and it's working again.

One side note: The 'restart' button is in the 'advanced users' section of the menu tab.

MJ+ going directly to voicemail

Post by Gary49 »

Had the same issue, I also followed the advice given here and restarted it from the menu, and advanced users link. Have had no problems with it since going to voicemail. Just wanted to say thanks!
