MagicJack Plus
Mac ID of MagicJack set to preferred IP: 192.168.0.6
UDP Port-forwarding to MagickJack IP for 5060, 5070 set as per suggestions by Chat tech support.
I still get static on incoming calls. Enough that it's hard to actually understand what people are saying.
I need a fix for this.
Ideas?

Attempting to eliminate AT&T as cause of static incoming
I'm wondering if the problem has due to AT&T. They may be 'accidentally-on-purpose' not doing something that is causing incoming calls to the MagicJack to suffer during call forwarding.
I'm just about finished porting my original land-line number to Google Voice. (That's a whole other story.) If I still get the same problem, we can perhaps eliminate the accidentally-on-purpose consideration and lay the problem squarely on MagicJack's doorstep.

Re: Attempting to eliminate AT&T as cause of static inco
It looks like the problem was mostly resolved by porting my landline number to Google Voice. Calls from outside my LATA are now nearly always clear. I don't get many local calls, and only some of them seem staticky, so I'm holding out until I have more data.greenman wrote:I'm wondering if the problem has due to AT&T. Thank you for your reply.VaHam wrote:One thing to check when you have problems is that your router is set to accept UPnP.
I have not had UPnP checked, so that may be a clue. Is there an explanation in a link somewhere that tells why this helps? I'd like to learn a little more about it.
I've only found these so far:
http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/is-m ... t4269.html
http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/wind ... t2946.html
They both seem to suggest UPnP should not play a role in MJ+ traffic.

Forward what IP Address
I am trying to clear the static on incoming calls. I see the suggestion for Port Forwarding. However, since I am using MJ+, not plugged into my PC, what IP address is applicable for Port Forwarding? (The suggestions always say enter the IP address of the computer...)

Quick fix to eliminate static on MJ+
Purchased a MJ+ 2 weeks ago and had nothing but static on the line. Came across a suggested "solution" to plug MJ+ directly into a powered USB hub. Thought I'd try it out. Happened to have a Belkin 4 port powered hub in my house that I was not using. Plugged my MJ+ directly into it and... SUCCESS! Absolutely no static and perfectly clear calls. What I do have is an extra $1100+ a year in my pocket that used to go to Verizon and service from MJ that not only rivals the service I got from Verizon, but exceeds it exponentially!
