I beleive it costs $20 to port your number to MJ. That seems to be the going rate for any porting with any Telco.
That being said, it appears ( though no proof YET) MJ wants to charge an additional $9.95 a year for said port. Since no one has had their number ported for that lenghth of time, yet, no one knows for sure if they will actually charge you that every year.

Seems there is a $9.95 yearly charge to keep your ported #. If you go to my.magicjack, click account tab, go to account details & you will see two "Status" columns. The second one is a renewal date to keep your ported #. At this point there is no auto renew for this, you have to pay on the date stated. This is the info I received during a live chat.

@bambam1321

If MJ+ requires a $10 year maintenance for a ported Canadian number then you might be better off with freephoneline.ca

They only have a reasobale one time fee and then you can keep your existing number and then turn on "follow me" so anyone that calls you, you can punch in any Canadian phone# and ring it.

Hope that helps.

You're right shushwap. Canadian home phone number porting to magicJack is not yet available. It's only available for US numbers for now. It's $19.99 to port in the number and $9.99 per year.

I took a look at my "new look" account details and scrolled way, way to the right (thank you spc) and saw my ported number is called "U.S. Phone Number - Transfer In". Hmm... So I scroll further to the right and what comes into view? A status column with an "Expires" date. Hmm... So I clicked on it and what comes into view? Auto-Renew! What a business model.
