Registering MJ+, machine won't recognize MJ+, no Windoze

I don't have a Windows machine available and need to register my MJ+. It works when I plug it into the wall, I get a dial tone, found the # by calling my cell phone, but can't register MJ+ without Windoze. Heellpp!

Really want this to work, I've heard good things, and now I just want to use it with no fuss.

I know it's a pain in the rear but you could access their MJ chat support with your browser, Firefox, Chrome, or whatever else you're using. Here's the link, but you have to go through the motions of doing an answer search before you get the opportunity to chat:

Once you get an agent, try to play the dumb "I just bought into the hype" card, letting the agent know that you never knew that Windows would be required for the registration process ... prompting you to inquire if the registration can't be completed online with the support people instead? Heck, since you already have the dialtone which indicates that your MJ is probably working fine, perhaps the registration can be done Online too? Doesn't hurt to try ....

Umh, pardon the heck out of me, but over 20 years Online and as a member on several forums I've come to learn that if an actual solution hasn't been posted and if the thread isn't outdated i.e. with hardware that most people would not own anymore, then any answer may still prove to be relevant anyway ... if not for you then perhaps for someone else !!! Or is your own ego so large that you actually believe each forum answer is strictly and only meant for that one person who started the thread?

Forum threads are for everyone, even the general public, and not just the person who started the thread. Three months ago may be outdated to you, but what about the next person with a similar question tomorrow, or next week or next month ... who happens to find and look at your thread from back in November ??? And for your information, I know plenty of people who actually loathe chat support. Anybody in that group would obviously not be included in your "anyone with 2 fingers" response. You know it's not nice to ASSume because ASSumptions are for ... right?

Well, this is the Linux section of the forum, isn't it? Which might imply that those who post here aren't the biggest fans of Mr Gates and his operating systems.

However, I can't understand why MJ+ couldn't do their registration process online and not OS dependent, like the NetTalk Duo, for example. Most of the people who wouldn't buy the original MagicJack, or initially bought one and then let it collect dust were likely Linux users who had no use for a device that required Windows. There's no reason why the MJ+ should need it at all.

Just for the sake of clarification ...

There's a reason why my user name is WinRiddance and why I'm responding in the Linux section of this forum. That's because I dumped Windows completely, having gotten into Linux about 4 years ago. And yeah, after learning how much more can be accomplished so much faster with Linux, the name of "that other OS" effectively turned into Windoze for me. Compared to Linux it's like falling asleep behind the wheel, hence the more than appropriate Windoze reference. Although, Winblows seems appropriate too, doesn't it?

BTW, nothing wrong at all with mullets. My wife wanted to marry a long haired rocker back in '96 and that's what she got. Now it's 2012 and the hair's still half way down my back. Hey, FreeRangeRadical ... I feel sorry for you, I really do. You are one screwed up kid ... !!!

When you invent your own VOIP you have it register however you wish.
