MJ servers not set to eastern daylight savings time

Post by Cybersys »

MJ servers not set to eastern daylight savings time

My phone system auto updates the time and date with each incoming call.

The phone system was not updating correctly since the change to EDST Sunday, so I updated manually.

BUT, the incoming calls keep setting my phone clock back 1 hour.

Seeing the wrong time on a phone is no big deal.

BUT, getting the wrong time stamp on all messages in my answer machine is a big deal.

How do we correct this?
System: XP Pro SP3, Celeron D 3.6GHz, 2GB DDR400
Router: Siemens 5890, SDSL 768Kb/768Kb, static
Phone: Panasonic KX-TG2000B

We really need this to be correct. We're having the same exact problem. Can anyone help?

Later...this seems to be fixed in the latest upgrade.

I did, a few days ago. The online chat person acknowledged the problem. He said don't worry the engineering department will take care of me. I assume he will report the problem.

May be if those with problems all report, the engineering department might put that at higher priority.

I also reported this issue on live chat the day after the clocks changed. I spent an hour going up the chain until finally some guy told me that I would get an email response from Engineering. Needless to say nothing came so I followed up again today. All I got was "Please be informed that Magic Jack device itself has its default time stamp. I regret to let you know that it's not possible to change it." Pretty poor response, but not unusual with this organisation. Anybody out there got any other feedback or tips?

As of now I don't hold out much hope of a solution anytime soon unless as previously pointed out enough people complain about it. The problem is the online chat support is so pathetic that I think most people just give in after a while 'cos they can't waste their time goin' round in ever decreasing circles.
One guy made me update my MJ+ software and told me that wud solve it but of course it didn't.
I'm just hoping that someone other than a newbie like me who links in to these posts might know a way of getting this elevated or resolved.

HAHAHA actually it can't be changed... trust me I know. no matter how much you change it it won't change it will be the same EST. Since the server of the magicjack needs to sync all users in the world they set only 1 time for it. even if you change it a million times it will still be the same

How about set the software so that the MJ plus synchs its time to the router time? My router displays the correct Eastern Daylight Savings time just like my computer.

The MJ or the MJ plus connected to the computer has no time synch problem, because the MJ time is synched to the computer time.

magicJack's servers is located in Florida that is the reason for the time stamp is set in EST, it's simple just take note that it's set to EST.

Then why is MJ or MJ Plus connected to the computer gives the correct Eastern Daylight savings Time? That is because the time stamp of MJ or MJ Plus connected to the computer is set by software to the time of the local computer.

Why can't the MJ Plus connected to the local router be time stamped with the time of the local router?

This can be done with a software update of the MJ Plus, unless the MJ Plus connected to the router uses only hardware, and cannot be software updated. I find that hard to believe.

have you checked the time in your router?

Yes. It displays Eastern Daylight Savings time, same as my computer time.

I just manually set the clock on my 3 cordless handsets, and on my base-station/answering machine (though I have my Google Voice set to send me messages via Email, instead of my answering machine or magicJack's Email messages).
