Porting My Old Number

Post by BeachBum »

I am planning on getting one of the new MagicJack Plus' and eliminating my landline. Since I am able to port my old number I would obviously like to do that. Do I just call my phone company and have them cancel my phone, do I need to port the old number first or how does that work?

If other users opinions/experiences that I have read are still current, I don't think you EVER cancel your current phone until the porting has been completed.

@ BeachBum,

It takes 10 days for the port in process to be completed actually. You need to wait first until the porting is completed and once it's done, you can call your home phone carrier line and let them disconnect your landline
