Activating voicemail stops incoming calls

Post by joe28078 »

Just got my device today. Outgoing calls are clear and consistent. Cool.

My first problem was that ALL incoming calls were being routed to voice mail. Online support sent me the latest install file and, after running it, the problem was fixed. Incoming calls were also clear. Feeling good so far.

But as soon as I activated voice mail all incoming calls got sent directly to voice mail. The phone never rang. I've even set the wait period to 1 minute, but the calls immediately get forwarded to VM.

The only way I can undo this is to turn off voice mail then reinstall the software. If I then don't touch the voice mail setting, I can make and receive calls.

I've done this now 3 times and it's always the same results. I'm liking the device so far, but I would really like to be able to use the voice mail feature without losing the ability to answer calls myself.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Yes my settings allow for both incoming and outgoing calls. The only time the incoming calls are redirected is when I turn on the vm feature. Otherwise, the device works just fine.

Update
=====

After switching the settings back and forth for a while. I managed to get the voice mail feature to work without directly sending the calls to vm (i.e., allowing the phone to ring first).

It would appear that changing all the voice mail settings to their desired values first, then reinstalling the software, is what ultimately did the trick.

I leave this in case anyone else runs into a similar situation.

Thanks again for all replies.
