TV commercials now show $3 a month for the new Magicjack

Post by Los Angeles jack »

I've been out of the loop now with this forum but I've been seeing TV commercials advertising $3 a month (no longer $1.70 per month). Not like it's going to break the bank for me but I was just curious how they came up with this new pricing. Actually the old $1.70 per month price was probably based on the 5 years for $20 a year ($1.70 x 12 months = $20). In 2013, I remember paying $29 for the entire year. Curious to see how they are now saying $3 a month. Are they coming clean and being honest about their pricing? I really don't think this is the case.

I've not seen any new commercials, but any $3/month statement in a tv ad would probably be based on the $30/year annual base fee + the new 7.5% MJ regulatory surcharge + whatever your locality now requires MJ to collect for e911 service, + whatever sales tax (if any)... in most cases this now totals around $40/year for annual renewals or around $30/year if on the 5-year plan.

The commercials that I've seen were in English but here is a youtube link in Spanish that I have come across. No need to understand Spanish because the pictures show $3 a month.

- Beats me; the current magicJack rates are those posted on the magicJack website (about $30/year and $100/5 years are still the basic rates, plus the necessary fees etc. - exactly as I mentioned above). There are *no* other basic plan rates associated with the magicJack Plus; a basic annual plan for an installed magicJack iOS or Android app is merely $10.

- The ad does NOT state $3/month; it states LESS THAN $3/month - and the actual rate of $29.95/year (for annual subscriptions as opposed to 5-year subscriptions) is in fact less than $3/month. You will notice another version of the MJ/Walmart ad - also posted on YouTube - states $29.95/year.

You are raising an issue that does not exist in reality.
