and there i could see one IDE drive with full access
and a CF card (in bios not present) with full access
so it worked

what with the second RAM socket what must i only solder it on the board ? or something more to do ?

This socket is not the correct size ... stabilizing Tab to Tab.
But according to member krzysiek841 if you bend the tabs outward
the socket will fit.

But using anything OTHER than a Hot-Air solder device to solder it,
will be VERY HARD TO DO, and WILL mess-up the board
He found this out, when a solder-bridge stopped the system from booting

It was found, and fixed by him, and now works well.
Read on to see more info

The 2nd RAM socket will need soldering on the socket, yes, but is best to use a SMD Hot-Air soldering tool. If you don't have one of those, it will be difficult to do it.

A standard soldering iron will make a mess of the board.

.. Yes I'm using a 2GB in one of my sockets.
It may even work with 2x 4GB RAM Modules too.
The DataSheet for the chipset inside the T5730 says it supports total of 8GB,
but I didn't have a 4GB module to try that.

I hope you are very careful soldering that socket in, it will be very difficult doing it with a standard soldering iron.

I don't use the added Mini-PCIe socket on the back of the motherboard.

I'm using the HP PCIe x1 riser-card from the HP PCI expansion kit,
with the back plastic piece cut off the x1 socket...
so I can put in a x16 graphic card, that works in x1 mode.

Another user here called T5735 uses that Mini-PCIe socket
and he has a Broadcom HD Decoder card for his graphics.

I honestly do not know.
Sorry I can't answer that for you.
But maybe it won't need any, because all the resistors and capacitors are on the RAM module.

Great find on the CF and RAM slots. I just requested a free sample of both. I had actually ordered some super cheap CF card readers from china to try to desolder the card reader off of and put on the board but I guess I will just use them as practice with the hot air gun. I will be home later today and will try to take the thin client apart and show all what I have done to it.

I actually have a legit design business, but recently closed my website.
No one was using it

I still have a legit registered tax ID number if they ever need to see one.

I forgot to also tell you, that Mini-PCIe slot, on the back of the motherboard can also use a SATA III card controller, if you don't want to use the IDE slot.

But if you need a HD graphics controller, then that mini-PCIe connector can just be for the graphics card like user T5735 has.

Unless you can also find a COMBINATION graphics and SATA controller.

But, Seeing how well you did finding that 2nd RAM and CF sockets from that US distributor, I don't doubt you may also find a mini-PCIe and SATA III combination card too!

i forgot to tell that the cf card slot don't fit 100% because it's to long and it looks a little bit out of the case but with the plastik cover wont nobody see it. i have made the hole for the cf card in the case a little bit bigger sideways and unscroved the I/O cover to mount the motherboard. but i wasn't hard to do that.

the RAM socket should come to me within 2 days. i will write if it fits.

You didn't answer if you had it connected to a soldered cable on the internal USB sockets, or to the China USB hub device.

Plus, have you tried it on one of the 'external' USB ports not used on your T5730 (you did say it worked on your T5740)

I didn't need a CF card, I'm looking to add a SATA III controller, maybe later.

If you ever get, or if you already have, a 4GB RAM module, and can test it on the T5730 please tell us if it worked. I just have 2 of 2GB modules, but the DataSheet of the chipset says it supports up to 8GB (2x 4GB modules)

When I purchased my RAM I was using windows XP pro 32-bit, and it just supported 4GB total (actually 3.5GB)
Now I use windows 8.1 pro 64-bit

I was stupid...I should have gotten a 4GB module, but was told the T5730 only supported 2GB, before I saw the chipsets DataSheet. oh well..!

they posted a link with bios and they think the bios could have a limitation ...

but 2GB + 1GB is no problem at all ...

The entire point of getting the second RAM socket sample is to use at least 2 of 2GB RAM modules.

Maybe they soldered it wrong, with solder bridges.
If they used a standard soldering iron, it's very possible..!

Sorry I didn't catch the second question. Everything works perfectly on the external USB ports it is only when I move stuff to the internal that they do not work. I did directly solder the usb cable onto the hub just for the xbox RF card but the IR sensor and mini 150 usb wireless dongle I just put them into the two slots directly and they only work when they feel like it. They all work 100% of the time when I use the external USB ports however. The RF card soldered to the USB hub works 100% of the time when I plug it into my Win 8.1 desktop and Win 7 laptop as well.

Maybe those internal USB ports have limitations on them, or yours may be faulty.
It wouldn't hurt to now plug something into it, so it activates, then try to uninstall that ports driver, thru the device manager, and reboot to let it reinstall the USB ports driver again.

Maybe it has a 'glitch'.

Maybe they didn't need those resisters, and it's limiting it somehow.

Me too, once I saw it was available 4 years ago.
I'm hoping there's a difference between country BIOS versions.

Maybe they can also use the USA version if that's the case.

If not ...it sucks large stale putrid fish eggs... Crap...!!!

I'm also hoping they put resisters not needed, this way it can be removed for them, and may work. Or they have solder bridges, if they didn't use a Hot-Air solder station...can always be fixed..!

If we both try it, and it works for us,...any of those possibilities may be why theirs isn't working.

But if ours also screws up... Even with our hot-air soldering stations and USA BIOS, and no resisters added...I'm going to cry...big time.

It doesn't seem to be a full version file size from the one on the USA HP site...unless the polish site was just mentioning the actual BIOS Binary file, and there's more un-needed stuff in the full 1.5MB file on HP USA.

I took pictures of the thin client and wouldnt you know it I forgot to take pictures of the IR sensor and RF board that I removed to get the pictures. Here is a album where you can see where I drilled out the factory mounting bracket studs on the back to give me room to place the IR sensor board, USB hub and RF board under the motherboard. You can also see where I sort of butchered the side where the internal USB ports go. I ran out of cutting wheels for my dremal tool so I went out in the shop and chucked up my air cut off tool I use for welding to my big 80 gallon compressor. You can also see what the broadcom card and the little 1.8" 4200 rpm hard drive looks like and where I put the capacitor on it side. I wanted to put the hard drive under the motherboard but it was just to thick. Finally you can see the USB wireless adapter I used with a rp sma extension cable to put the antenna in the factory stock location and routed it inside to the USB adapter attached to the internal USB port. This setup works just fine when plugged into a external USB port and it works in exactly this configuration mounted inside in a 5740 as well but for some reason it only works when it wants to in a 5730.

Wow, that's a LOT of work cutting the metal case, on that side.

I'm wondering if I should post the photos on how I modified the power connector for the DIN 4-pin to the motherboard, from my 16 Amp PSU, but compared to what you did in modifications (metal work...etc..) I don't know if mine would be as interesting.

Well... I verified it.
Unpacked the 1.5 MB file, and as the subject line says...that's the one.
So I only hope they may have made a solder error on the 2nd socket,
or the resistors they put on, aren't needed, or in the wrong places and may be messing it up.

I once saw a utility that let you change stuff in a BIOS or .EXE file,
without actually needing to re-compile it again,
but it may only have been for changing variables or other simple stuff.

This was around 5 or 10 years ago. ..
I doubt it was upgraded for 64-bit or windows 7 or 8.1
... But I'd have no idea what it was called anyway.

So whoever is first to receive the sample new RAM socket,
and solder it on cleanly, will be the one to know, for sure.

I'd like to find out what resisters they tried adding, and where...!
I may be able to trace the memory module or MoBo wiring to see where it's connected
(..what part of the circuit it's attached to could reveal if it's needed and correct..)

Oh well... Time for bed..!

I'm wondering if the speed of the Kingston memory is making theirs mess-up

Maybe they have one with the faster Hynix chips, and one with the slower chips.

Or two modules of the slower chips...
...I'm not sure if that may make a difference, but it's another factor to consider.

I wonder if they know the ones with the Hynix chips with FP-S6 in the separate chip #'s -
on that same number Kingston module is faster 400MHz (800MHz) speed,
instead of the non-Hynix at 300MHz (667MHz) FP-S5

But you'll also need a better power supply, minimum the 8 Amp one I mention earlier in this thread. (No mod of the power connection needed)

The specs of the graphics card auction page says; minimum of a 400 watt PSU, but my card also suggested minimum of a 300 watt PSU as well, and I'm using it with my 192 watt PSU - power requirements go up when the 3D games are played, using more graphics engine power...but just playing HD videos take minimum power, hardly anything.

If you were able to verify that the Australian company has the correct ThinClient expansion kit, you can always modify the PCIe x1 connector (cut away the back plastic on the PCIe x1 socket) so a x16 card will also fit, it will allow you to get ANY cheap x16 card using it as x1 ...like I have...(see my signature)

Did you post the second link I mentioned in my latest post? Regarding the system memory chip? It's possible their troubles are due to the wrong memory being used when not matched, for Dual Channel. (Both sockets used)

The DDR generations of RAM are 64-bit wide addresses for non-server RAM. DIMMs are built using "×4" (by 4) memory chips or "×8" (by 8 ) memory chips with 8 DRAM chips per side. "×4" or "×8" refer to the data width of the DRAM chips in bits.

The term "Rank" means the collective amount of DRAM chips per side; whereas the term "Bank" identifies how many "grids" per chip.

So, assuming that all sticks are double sided with a x8 organization, the one stick being reported as 1 Rank, 8 Banks has 8 chips on each side. Each of these 8 chips would have a 4-bit-wide data bus, and the 8 4-bit chips have 8 grids. The other three would have 8 DRAM chips on each side, with each chip 8-bits wide, but only 4 grids.

What this effectively means is that the lone 1-8 has only one 64-bit side to read/write from, while the three 2-4's have two 64-bit sides to read/write from.

Dual channel technology allows up to 128-bit data transfers, but if one stick only has 64 bits to address, then this certainly would explain why the pair of PNY sticks will not work in dual channel mode.

Which may explain why the members on the polish site are having problems with their usage of the two memory slots, if the T5730 even actually supports Dual-Channel.

(The both 2GB PC2-6400 modules I have, have 8 chips on each side, and should match)

I don't know if this is the answer, because I don't know what resistors were used (value resistance), and where they added them to the motherboard, but assuming their soldering is correct, it seems the amount of chips per-side on the module, also makes a difference in matching for Dual Channel.
Of course, they can also be correct, that the HP T5730 BIOS is limited.
