Diana: Hello, how may I help you?
Diana: Hello Rob
Rod J: I am getting the following message when I dial my MJ number "our number is being identified as a local number when it is a long distance number". I have contacted AT&T and they said the problem is with Magic Jack
Rod J: they gave me a reference number CM20101112_14449370
Diana: may i know when this issues started ?
Rod J: Since I got the MJ
Diana: Please wait while I check that for you
Diana: as i have double checked here in my end there was no issues on your magic jack system account all the connection was the same as it was ..
Rod J: That doesn't solve the problem.... I can not call the MJ number 540-xxx-xxxx from my cell phone. And I have to assume that other callers to this number have the same problem.
Diana: I am transferring you to one of our top 10% agents as rated by our customers. Please hold while I transfer you.
Rod J: I am using this MJ number for one of my businesses and I can not have this issue
Please wait while I transfer the chat to the best suited site operator.

Ken: Hello Rod J. My name is Ken. To better assist you, let me put you on hold while I read your previous chat/s. Thank you.
Rod J: I have even looked into moving that number to another carrier other than Magic Jack but I was unsuccessful. This is making my business look amature!
Ken: Thank you so much for patiently waiting.
Ken: Is your magicJack still plugged in with the blue light on?
Rod J: yes. It works fine for outgoing calls and some incoming. However, some cell phones are receiving the message
Ken: Do you have error message when you call your magicJack number using cell phone?
Rod J: YES.. i get "Your number is being identified as a local number when it is a long distance number"
Ken: Your number is being identified as a local number when it is a long distance number

Rod J: I did, I found that on your FAQ. AT&T says it is a problem with MJ because it is with all Cell phone carriers. They gave me a reference number CM20101112_14449370.
Ken: One moment please...
Rod J: I have to agree that if it is a problem with all carriers trying to call a Magic Jack. I can't have customers going through this process to call me. They will just call someone else.
Rod J: I have tried forwarding it to another phone... still have the same problem.
Ken: Thank you for holding on.
Ken: I have double checked it here and it shows that this issue is not from us, Rod. Our Engineers already double checked on our connections and there's nothing wrong in there.
Rod J: Then why is every cell phone carrier reporting the same problem???
Ken: Please call them and ask for their translation department to route your calls properly.
Rod J: I just called my number and got the message again?
Rod J: Do I have to have all my customers do the same thing??
Ken: Yes you can do that. Let them call their phone carrier and ask for the translation department.
Rod J: That is very unprofessional! I have my website, letterhead and business cards already printed. I tried to change the number to another carrier and they were unable. It would be a great expense to me to have to change my number. I would like Magic to fix the problem
Ken: There's no problem here in our end, Rod.
Rod J: Yes there is... I can not call a phone number you have assigned to me!!!
Ken: Yes since your call is not routed by your phone carrier properly.
Rod J: I have NO PROBLEM calling any other number other than my MAGIC JACK!
Ken: Yes since they're blocking the calls for magicJack.
Rod J: Then that appears to be a problem between MJ and other carriers. You need to fix the problem and leave your customers out of it!
Ken: One moment please...
Ken: Thank you for holding on.
Rod J: If that is your solution then you now have caused me the expense of changing my phone number which will require a website update, new letterhead, new business cards and a lot of hassle.
Ken: Can I have at least 3 phone numbers that you can't receive calls and its phone carrier?
Rod J: Yes. 509-xxx-xxxx, 509-xxx-xxx, 509-xxx-xxxx all AT&T. I have no idea of others who have called my business and failed to get through.
Ken: Ok. This time, I need to escalate your issue to the Engineers for them to check on this matter personally. Please provide me the needed information below.
Ken: Complete name.........
Ken: Email address..........
Ken: MJ number.........
Rod J: Rxx
Rod J: rodxxxxxx
Rod J: 540-xxx-xxxx
Ken: Thank you. Please hold while I create a report regarding your concern which will be forwarded to the right department.
Rod J: I have to go, I have a meeting at 2 pm. Please have MJ look into this issue further. Thx Rod
Ken: One moment please...
