FIND THE 'WORKAROUND' FOR ALL!!!!!!!!
Moderators: Bill Smith, Pilot
Hey Everyone,
I'm working on figuring out the solution to this problem as well, but I need someone's help to figure something out. I'm investigating network packets as well as memory dumps of the new version, and see that they use nonce's all throughout. Can someone confirm or deny if they use nonce's in previous versions before all the ATAs went down? If someone can PM me a memory dump and/or WireShark output that would be ideal--you can find/replace your phone number with dummy info.
My theory is that the username/password combo found using the tools we have are correct, but MJ's servers are now requesting additional information in order to acknowledge the REGISTER message. I pray it's nothing as dynamic as nonce values, but I guess we'll find out for sure once more investigation is done.
If anyone can supply me with some dumps, thanks in advance!

Magicjack and an ATA
I have been trying to figure this out also and what I have found is that they seem to be using some sort of key added to your computer, not your magicjack. I say this because I also was using a PAP2 and it stopped working. So I switched back to the dongle and it required me to upgrade to use it. After the upgrade it worked well on my pc. I tried adding the new codes to the PAP2 but no luck. I then tried the dongle on another pc that it use to work on and it too wouldn't work till I upgraded again, but this time my password and codes didn't changed on the dongle but after the upgrade on this pc it worked fine again and the 401 error goes away. So I put it on another PC and same thing again I get the 401 error and can't call anyone till I upgraded the new pc. All 6 of my PCs the dongle worked before they came out with this upgrade and all 6 PCs had to be upgraded with the same dongle. Nothing changed on the dongle except the 1st time it changed my password. They seem to be putting a code or cookie on you computer to verify it is their dongle. The ATA isn't a pc so it doesn't take in the cookie or code so it knows its not their dongle. I hope someone finds a way to fix this.
Good luck to all.
Good luck to all.

my pap2 does not work too
I just got my PAP2-NT, set it up and it did not work.
I first thought i got a bad PAP2, but after making voipdiscount work on it, I knew something wrong with MagicJack.
My trial will expire 6/20. So I will return it if it can not be fixed by that time.
PC works fine though.

Re: Magicjack and an ATA
If that is all they did is validate with the md5 sum then why didn't it validate it again after I switched the MJ back to machines that were already upgraded. I say this cause the MD5 is different on each machine but once a machine is upgraded it doesn't have to be done again till they make a new upgrade. That md5 isn't able to be done on an ATA or PAP2. or they loaded more onto each machine in code somewhere.domingo wrote:Actually look in the upgrade folder that is hidden in your profile , there is a md5 sum for the upgrade , if the mj account server seen you upgraded the jack on any other machine it rejects you until the md5 of the software passes , this is standard on all sip servers where upgrades are enforced.GeorgiaYankee wrote:I have been trying to figure this out also and what I have found is that they seem to be using some sort of key added to your computer, not your magicjack. I can confirm the fact that it is old and has nothing to do with what is going on nowMeRookie wrote:I am too new to say anything about this one

Magic Jack on my Linksys SPA 3102, Trixbox, Elastix and PBX In A FLASH
part of solution
OK THIS IS WHAT I HAVE SO FAR.
Go to:http://voxilla.com/tools/linksys-certif ... p-adaptors
you can generate a cert there but when you get to the screen that says install cert instead of hitting install cert (don;t it wont work not for a pap2 at least) go view source code.
Towards the bottom you will see "idcert" and "idpkey"
That's the cert and the private key. Cut and paste it to the ATA. Now from here I'm stuck. It still wont work although it has been reported to work on other boards. There must be some settings that still need to be changed.
I have to go but I'll play around with it later. If someone figures it out either post it or pm me please.
