I'm not convinced that GV has anything to do with the quality. I've tried the USA echo test with the GV web callback feature once going through Gizmo and once going through Sipgate - the Gizmo route was slightly garbled but Sipgate was crystal clear but about 1 second more of a delay. GV just initiates the call to the selected provider which handles then handles the RTP voice transmission/reception packets.

My 2 cents.

My primary phone system is now SS/Sipgate/GV which has been solid going on the 4th day now. I would not knock Sipgate's tech support, they answer E-mails within 24 hours and their website is pretty informative. For a free incoming Voip service, they are much better compared to Gizmo/VoxOx IMO.

I follow most of your post. What is SS? And I am guessing mjmd5 is some proxy for magic jack. Not familiar.

SS= Sipsorcery, an experimental Voip switching system that allows for multiple providers. You specify your incoming and outgoing providers through a sophisticated Ruby dialer script. SS now allows any free incoming Voip provider with the GV callback feature similar to what the GVOut proxy is doing. The big difference is that they act as the "proxy" so you don't need your PC/laptop on.

Unfortunately, they are asking newbies to check back 9/8 to allow for new accounts so if you will have to wait at least until then to try them out.

SS work better than gv out then?

I don't see a sign up page for ss.

Notwithstanding Why I don't understand need for a download if they are running the proxy and holding my settings, I downloaded some sipsorcerer program but at first glance, looks like you need to dl silverlight engine. Not sure how you would run the program which looks very cryptic. Even the doc is a docx extension which I can't seem to get open office to open or word.

Yes, that's what I'm inclined to think as well since Gizmo5 is my carrier regardless of how I initiate the call. But in practice, a call initiated though Gizmo5 is always poor quality, while one initiated through Google Voice is always excellent. Go figure.

I am getting the following error. Before trying the ATA, tried to use X-lite. If I point to the proxy, it cannot register. X-lite by itself works fine.

Another issue also: Cannot receive calls from another phone to GV, but can call from GV and it rings on x-lite or gizmo without GV out proxy.

Please help? Am I missing any other install package?

Not sure what doesn't work but I believe the major ones are supported like Firefox, Opera, and of course Microsoft's IE.

I assume you are running a PC, not Mac or Linux - I think Silverlight only works on PC platform.

What's weird is that I have to set the ATA up so that it doesn't register and no dialtone. This means that I leave the SIP domain empty (no proxy01.sipphone.com entry) and I just stick the PC IP address in SIP Proxy field.

So, with no dialtone, I can still dial out, disconnect, see the correct status in the cmd window and get the GV callback ring. With the ATA registered and a dialtone, I don't get the constant client messages from the ATA IP address and it won't work.

Weird, to dial out with no dialtone, but it works, nevertheless. This is with the Sunrocket/Vonics/Innomedia ATA. It works best if you set GVout to no delay/no busy tone.

url for phonelite.

I got googlevoiceout to work with nch expresstalk. It doesn't give me the 408 error or the sipstack crash error. The trick is use sipgate.com for server and under advanced use 192.168.0.10:5060 or what ever ip, for the outgoing server.

I used processlasso to disallow magicjack.exe and mjsetup.exe and I can use the magicjack dongle and phone. I would be super duper excited at this magicjack backup plan, except I cannot answer or dial without the softphone. client. You would think if I pick up, the mic input could answer and if no volume input level after 30 seconds it would auto hangup. also listen for keypad.

I ordered the pap2t from amazon. I will see it I can get google voice out working with it.

GVOut isn't working so well for me anymore. It will successfully initiate one call and that's it.

I use the dial plan method on port 5060. I've tried both with and without the busy signal, same result.

The first time I noticed this behavior was this past week when there seemed to be some changes with GV/G5 causing one-way audio. I began using GV/sipgate until I could sort out the GV/G5 problem. Sipgate worked flawlessly right off the bat except for some caller ID issues and a slightly longer audio delay (long enough to make calls somewhat painful and bolster my determination in getting GV/G5 working again.) It's during the use of sipgate that I noticed the GVOut one call problem, but I blew it off because I assumed it may be isolated to sipgate, and besides, I had bigger fish to fry.

I have since fixed the GV/G5 one-way audio issue, but the GVOut one call problem has persisted. I them assumed the GVOut problem may be due to the NAT setting changes made in the SPA3102 which were required to fix the GV/G5 issue. But, while GVOut only makes one call then craps out, I can initiate as many calls as I want from the GV web page Call button, even immediately after GVOut has crapped out.

Edit: This issue may have been due to GV growing pains. In any case the latest version of GVOut (version 1.1.5.1 as of this writing) is currently working very well.

az1324, is there any chance you would consider releasing the source code? I'm not sure how far I would get with it, I'm not really a Windows guy, but I would certainly use this opportunity to cut my teeth.

What I'm most interested in is making strictly a call initiator for the GV Call feature, as I use the dial plan method.

latest version of gvout is crashing on startup on xp pro sp3.

I bought a papt2 from staples.com and not sure if unlocked or not or what that mean or firmware flash. I cannot find the docs on cd. So far after hours and hours only on page 6 reading of this thread. I only get pap2t to work with sipgate, but when I turn on outgoing proxy, like other user, it breaks. If I put outgoing as 192.168.0.10:5060 I can get incoming calls but I cannot dial out.

Now problem is there is no restore facotory default button I can see. Very confusing setup, as promised in reviews; Cisco like complexity for complexity sake. I don't see sipgate screeshots on sipgate site. Unsure of stun setting.

So, alot of questions.

Got sipsorcery account--the preferred way-- but clueless there where to start. They like complexity for complexity sake too.

I would doubt that Staples sells locked products. You can download firmware, if needed, by following the product information link posted below.
degarb wrote:Now problem is there is no restore facotory default button I can see.
Resetting the factory defaults is done with the phone that is connected to the device through what Cisco calls the Interactive Voice Response Menu, at least that's how it works on my SPA3102. This information can be found in the user guide, which can be downloaded using one of the following links.

Product information for Cisco ATA devices is here.
User guides for Cisco ATA devices is here.

As for why GVOut may be crashing, make sure you're using the very latest version (found on the first post of this thread) and if possible describe what, if anything, happens when it crashes.

I rebooted and crashing stopped. I assume some remnant of old version was stopping up the port.. Is the newer version of gvout work better on pap2t?

I wasn't having luck other than incoming, but tried every combination I could think (thus need for factory restore)

I was only able to get sipsorcery to work once I was pointed to the url below.

GVOut version 1.1.5.1 has been working well for me. I don't use a PAP2T, I use a SPA3102, but that shouldn't make much of a difference with regards to GVOut.

From your posts, it appears you're trying to use GVOut as a proxy. I've only ever used GVOut in a dial plan mode, but the first few pages of this thread have a lot of info on setting up GVOut as a proxy with a PAP2T.

For what its worth, you've done a superb job to the MJ community providing these tools! Even though GVOut was a hassle for me, MJMD5 proxy was excellent when it was needed, before, I too, switch to SS once they got GV callback to work with other providers besides cruddy quality Gizmo.

And, go figure, over at DDWRT.com, after over a full year in "WIP", they finally provided a DDWRT capable firmware for my Airlink 101 670W router that I could use to stick your MJMD5 on. But since SS is working so great on both the ATA and my Ipod touch, I'd rather not screw around with my one sacred router............ until SS ever goes down (fingers crossed it won't, anytime soon).

The Callcentric 1777 number will not work with Google Voice at this time. You could however forward a Gizmo5 number that you have verified in Google Voice to your Callcentric if you have a limited amount of SIP account registrations available in your configuration. This can be done by going to Gizmo5 members login page and selecting the forward tab. Next in the forward box place the following [email protected]. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your repy.

I have registered callcentric with SS and I have set up a Callcentric dial plan. I want to make outbound calls just like I currently do with gizmo/sipgate etc under SS w/o using computer.
Since I cannot add the callcentric telephone # to GV, like I did with gizmo, sipgate etc, I cannot make outbound calls using callcentric telephone. I realize Callcentric # also is another gizmo telephone in GV account..

You need to forward your GV number to your Callcentric local DID number that you purchased, not the 1777 account number. You'll also need to email Callcentric support to have them set your caller ID to your GV number, unless you want your local DID to be used as your caller ID.

Windows 7 64-bit Support?

I am running Express Talk 3.1 with the Gizmo5 service and Google Voice. I am trying to use GVOut v1.1.6.0 for the outgoing call functionality. However, if I set GVOut to use the same Listen port as Express Talk, GVOut crashes. If I set it to use a different port (which I don't think I should since isn't GVOut supposed to intercept the Express Talk outgoing call requests?), GVOut doesn't crash, but it also doesn't intercept the Express Talk outgoing calls which are made with Gizmo5's 3-minute limit.

So, does GVOut work with Windows 7 64-bit? If so, what should I set my Listen port to be for GVOut? Any suggestions on the other settings?

Okay I will answer these questions myself, since I got it to work.

GVOut does work with Windows 7 64-bit. Since GVOut is a SIP proxy of sorts, its listen port needs to be set to a different UDP port than that of Express Talk (or another SIP client) if GVOut is running on the same PC as Express Talk. Express Talk simply needs to be configured to use GVOut as its outbound server with a setting of localhost:<GVOut's ListenPort> if GVOut is running on the same PC.

Have you posted the source code any where?

My goal:
I would like to learn how all this works,
and maybe someday programmatically make a phone call
and even respond to touch tones.

Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance!

If I come up with something neato with it,
I'll be happy to share my code from here.

Check out this tutorial for SS http://sipsorcery.wordpress.com/2009/08 ... -tutorial/ it makes it very simple to use SS with googlevoice now. It has a very simple dial plan that's easy to understand. On your MJ line check and see what your registration expire is set to 180 or 90 seem to be good values for this.

The benefit of using sipsorcery is being able to pickup the phone and dial like normal. All you hear is an additional ring on average. Sipsorcery with the ruby scripts complete the call back to you from googlevoice. It's really the same as using the browser addons for googlevoice but your phone never rings. With the link posted above there is a simple 3 line dial plan for sipsorcery and googlevoice now. The other advantage of sipsorcery is having multiple sip accounts with multiple providers ring one phone. One other advantage is not having to keep a computer on all the time.

I have two SIP accounts, which one rings to my computer and the other rings to my iPhone when I am on the go.

When I try to use GVOut for the second account, I get it attempting to connect to the SIP on port 5061 as a previous post explained.

I read that a dial plan may work in this case, but I cannot find any dial plan for GVOut that is for X-Lite, all seem to be for other software.

EDIT: Also, when I try to run GVOut on the same PC as X-Lite vs on my XP server, using gvout d, it seems to say

GV Commands Sent
GV Response: OK
GV Signout

but it spit out an enormous amount of HTML code before, and from other posts, I did not see anyone who had this.

I also have a Dell Optiplex running XP Pro which is on 24/7 as I run my radio scanner live feed sending audio and digital tag data streams to radioreference.com. I was thinking of running GVOut on that machine so it would still function if my main PC was not running. All the PC's are on the same network. Well, I tried it and GVOut would not run for some unknown reason. I kept getting some error that was not explained and had to close the program. Does anyone have any idea what's happening and maybe a way to fix it?

make sure you have .NET 3.5 installed?
