I followed these screenshots and everything went great I can receive calls and make calls now. My issues are small. my voicemail indicator stays on all the time and never goes off even though I dont have a message. the other thing is that sometimes when someone calls I answer it and no one can hear me and I cant hear them. I have to call them back from the number on the caller ID and then I get them. The other thing is that I check my Cell phone voicemail and when I go to hit star or any key on my phone the voicemail system cant register that I am hitting a key. Is there a setting I need to tweak for this?

All of them went away. lol. It is working great. I switched servers though because the one I was on didnt dound as good. :) Thanks again for a great guide!

I have my RTP300 setup exactly like the one in this guide and I was wondering if anyone would know how to set it up to use the correct time zone for Central Time because my callerID is off on it. It is giving the wrong time for Central time. I would also be fine with it being Eastern Time because I am going to be moving to Eastern Time zone area soon. Thank you in advance.

I have successfully setup magic jack on my rtp300 device. I am running into a different issue. I can call out and everything is fine. However when I place a call to my MJ number, it goes into voice mail.

I am running tomato on my wrt54g router and I have set port forwarding to the static ip address of my rtp300.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Linksys WRTP54G with RTP300 hacked firmware 3.1.17 installed. I set it up just like the diagrams here, but I can't get a dial tone. I am behind a D-Link wireless router and a wireless bridge WRT54g running dd-wrt. I thought my problem might be from these other routers, but the MJ dongle works fine thru the same setup.

I can get Internet thru the WRTP54G if I plug my laptop into it, but no dial tone. If I disable NAT, I lose the internet but still no dial tone. I don't know what setting to try changing. Any ideas?

Hi all. I just got a MagicJack this weekend and am totally blown away by how innovative people have gotten using these! I've read through a lot of posts here and being new to the SIP world, it's helped me along greatly.

I could really use some help on what I believe is the "last step" to getting my RTP300 working. Using posts here and from dslreports, I unlocked the router, reflashed it to the modified 3.1.24, and put in all of the SIP information, including my username and password. However, I can't get a dial tone, and Info says that the registration has "Failed". Connecting to a sipsorcery account, I can get my Line 1 LED to go solid and get a dial tone on the phone. However, sipsorcery wouldn't connect to my MagicJack account either to enable calling (it's my understanding that this is a known issue as MJ blocks the sipsorcery IPs?). Any suggestions on how to get past this point, or anything I may have set incorrectly that's preventing registration? I checked my device and according to the Wikipedia page (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/File:Magic ... e_gen3.jpg) it's a "Gen 3", if that makes a difference.

Any feedback on this? I see a lot of posts discussing mjmd5, is that something that also needs to be running? If so, how does that get put into the Rtp300?

You will have to use a DD-WRT or Tomato capable router to set things up.
Once you get the router, then refer to the sticky posts.

Kinda an old post but I will ask. I have this router and I was using it but sometimes I will try to dial out and it will lock up the router and show like the line is in use and never stop. then lately I noticed that now I can make calls out but cannot receive calls. It tells callers that they have reached the YMax communications center and that the call was successful. Anyone else having these issues? Also I was wondering if maybe the calling plan I am using is not good because also I cannot dial 911 with it. I would like to get away from the software again and the dongle. Please help. lol.

Several questions...

Wonderful post and thanks for the hard work. I'm new to this, I've had an MJ for a while and just got an RTP300 that I unlocked. I tried to follow the instructions on this forum to configure and use my RTP300 with my MJ. I've read the whole forum and I have several questions:

1. The info in the screenshots do not always match what's included in the PAP2TMJ.config. Which is the correct information to configure my RTP300?

2. Line1_Proxy: should I use 'proxy1.miami.talk4free.com:5070' or my local proxy (i.e., 'proxy01.washington.talk4free.com:5070')

3. mbarlent's dial plan: do I need to replace the 311 in <:1311> with my MJ's area code, or should I just use the dial plan as is with the 311?

I would really appreciate any feedback on this. I'll continue verifying what I've put in the RTP300. I may have mis-copy/pasted info in it from PAP2TMJ.config (that's what I'm going with right now :) )

Thanks in advance.

What Do I to need to do?

Thanks you.
I have same problem. I have a LINKSYS RTP 300, Firmware version 3.1.17. When I get into 192.168.15.1, status/current time: Not available. I even couldn't find ntp server and time zone. Each time when I get a phone call, it alwasy shows the time: 01/01, I set up the time of my phone many, many times. But as long as I got a call, the time of my phone is back to 01/01. Since I use this adapter, I have never known the time of every phone call. If I got the call, it's OK. But if I can not, I will never know when the call was made. That make me headache for long time. Does anybody here can help me?

Thank you.

MJ and the RTP300

hi everyone! (if anyone is left reading these posts)

I recently came across the idea to take my old RTP300 and get RID of the Vonage firmware that was installed on it (and therefore said firmware wrecked the port-forwarding/triggering capabilities) in order to restore its functionality as a very decent WIRED router capable of handling HD streaming applications.

(as you may know, today's cheaply-made routers simply can't handle multiple bi-directional HD streaming, however, the RTP300 CAN)

After spending an entire day and installing who-knows-what types of "hacking tools" and other utilities (and security risks), I have successfully "cracked" the RTP300 and removed the wonky Vonage firmware and replaced it with the latest "intended" firmware from Linksys.

my efforts proved to be successful and I now have a decent and reliable (and properly-functioning) RTP300 managing the broadcast racks.

in all of this, I have come across the idea to perhaps try MagicJack on the RTP300.. and thus led me to this forum!

NOW..

I have come across some "snags" in reading this forum more deeply.. and after paying $70 for the damn MJ device... I'll start out with the obvious question..

1) Does this hack still work for the magic jack system; now being November 2011? since the last post is over a year ago, and the "active" posts are about 3 years old! I have read that MJ now BLOCKS use of ATAs outside of their stupid wonky dongle... but I couldn't confirm this..

2) if this still DOES work, has any of the provided info changed or otherwise modified procedures to obtain said info (I have tried the "MagicJackSuite" and "SIPDump" utilities and they don't seem work AT ALL now)

3) is there a way to get the SIP info using some other free utility or procedure?

or, is this all now just a FARSE and I should just give up on MagicJack and take the MJ device BACK to Wallmart and get a refund?

at least I have a working RTP300! maybe someone out there knows of a VoIP service (probably BETTER than MJ) that I can use with the RTP300...

a prompt reply would be appreciated! (since I only have a few days at best to return the damn thing), thanks in advance!

I'll +1 that. I'm in the same boat; I recently bought a second-hand RTP300 locked to Vonage, and I Rooted it successfully, and would love to use it as an SPA for MagicJack, if that's still possible. If not, I'm happy to take suggestions for another SIP service that is on the cheap!

Unfortunately MJ changed their login logarithm sometime ago and you can no longer use your sip credentials to login using another device.

Does that pretty much bomb this entire forum, if you cannot do anything with MJ outside of the USB dongle?

The entire FORUM? Hardly. Maybe this entire thread, but not the entire forum.

It would be nice if they would lock down threads such as using sip with a red "this crap doesn't work anymore" notice. Or maybe require posters of a new thread, or one brought to life after a year, to run their question through the search function first.

I agree.... After answering 3 different requests for the same exact thing in the last week I gave up answering anymore...
