I tried the faster RAM in both the GT7725 and the T5730 w/TL-64 and they both clocked the ram back down to 667mgz. In the case of the GT, the ram clock was displayed when posting. With the T5730 I am only going by Win. Exp.Ind. scores.

T5730 w/TL-60 @ 2.0GHz } RAM scored 5.5 w/6400S and 5.2 w/5300S

I just passed through whole topic and it seems that no one did expansion module connectivity test for T5730. Is there a brave little soul to do that? Only for PCIe, please Those expansion modules are very hard to get in europe, as I noticed...

Hello pw0, (welcome to the forum) I attempted to use my GT7725's PCI-E adapter in my T5730 and it did not function properly. And the only risers that work in the T5730 is the pci riser and the pci-e X1 riser. Would have been nice if pci-e x16 riser did work.

Interesting tidbit here. The GT7725 will run under-powered just fine.
I came across an HP mobile TC power supply for the 4410T. (a very nice laptop with the right upgrades)(so nice someone stole it) It is rated [email protected]/65w.
The GT7725 says it needs [email protected]/120w.
I guess with just one active core/channel it only needs half of the power it is rated for.

That doesn't mean it needs only part of that power - now it works but under load delivering power is crucial - it will just hang when it won't have enough to eat. Test it and keep in mind it has 8 USBs which has to be powered (sometimes).

pw0, Maybe you misread my earlier post. It was pertaining to the GT7725's full functionality under load with a 65 watt power supply when it requires a 120 watt power supply.(not the T5730)
As far as I know the pci-e slot on the T5730 is proprietary and only works with HP's GZ286AA expansion kit. (as hard to find as hen's teeth)
I do not have the tools required to tell you how they wired it.(sorry)

Man Momo I am so sorry to hear that. Hopefully everything will be alright you just have to stay positive. I have been waiting since before Christmas for my 64gb SSD's to come in for my new thin clients and the wait is about to kill me.

I researched this and I don't think HP ever offered it but do you guys think their may be a regular PCI riser card out there for a GT7720? I would like to be able to run a dvb-s2 PCI card in order to get free satellite television in one but I can't do it with the PCI-E riser card I have now.

T5730> I might be coerced into trying my T5730 riser in the GT7725 to see if it recognizes any pci card I have. If you haven't tried it already.

Well if that didn't work I doubt it would work the other way around then. It is no big deal I just wanted to be able to buy the much cheaper PCI card as opposed to the more expensive PCI-E card. Thanks for the offer though I do appreciate it.

After trying several different pci cards on the T5730 riser in the GT7725, I can say that it is not compatible between the two.

I was going thru my saved pictures, to find something I needed for my personal stuff, and came across a post from here, on Sept 21st 2014, that I saved as a picture, where krzysiek841 said his T5730/35 worked as Dual-(I assume 'channel') but don't know if he was speaking of dual 2GB RAM or dual-channel.

I mentioned that the GT7720/25 PCIe riser card, with the graphics card installed, would possibly damage either the T5730/35 , the riser, or the card in it, if used on the T5730/35
I don't remember looking at the PCI riser card, but did see the PCIe riser had ground connections that were different.

Thankfully after trying either riser in both machines nothing got damaged including my video cards.

I am curious about the jumper on the adapter. when I had it shorted it didn't see my HDD. so I left it open. Did you have to change it? I am thinking it may be the difference between using an SSD or an HDD.
I cannot experiment with the adapter because it is now being used in the GT7725 and an 80G HDD to replace the system my mother had, that died for the new year.(she loves it)

I happen to have access to a cloning drive http://uk.startech.com/HDD/Duplicators/ ... ATDOCK22RE so had a byte for byte copy (and 40gig left unallocated on the SSD)

I've an OCZ Vertex 3 (the model with the dodgy Sandforce chip) SSD here so I may hook that up and see what sort of results happen - it could be the SSD controller

Its possible they have done away with it in newer boards with better logic. And allows SSD compatibility without needing a jumper.
I am ordering another and hope it is SSD compatible.

I was using mini partition wizard to do my cloning. It works very well.

@wheezer: what SSD were you using?

Is there anything else different between the IDE to sata connector?

My crucial is using 'Marvell 88SS9189' controller

I've not tested the OCZ Vertex yet but I know that uses 'LSI SandForce SF-2281' as it's controller but I'll report back tomorrow when I've had a play.

My next step is going to be trying to install 'Untangle' to the SSD, so maybe it's an OS thing too

OCZ Vertex 3 shows up in the BIOS as flash memory of 120GB, it also boots an installation of Windows7 32Bit (did this by accident because I forgot to plug in my bootable USB stick )

BUT! booting into Windows 7 setup when you get the the "Where would you like to install windows" bit, the partitions pop up and them promptly disappear leaving the message "No drives were found"

I don't have any more working SSD's to do any more tests with now so all I've got left is the OS installs

The SSDs I have tried are:
Kingston V100 256GB
Corsair Force Series 120GB
OCZ Vertex 3 120GB
Intel 310 160GB w/mSATA-SATA passive adapter.

I am convinced it is Windows being stubborn and refusing to see the drives despite the bios recognizing each of these drives.

Have you tried putting the drive in another pc as a slave and then formatting it there and seeing what happens? I had the same thing happen to me the other day and after I did that windows install would see it.

@Wheezer a decent variety then, though I came to reinstall Win7 this morning, deleting all the linux partitions and then recreating one for Win7 to install.. its gone and worked...

I guess the SSD has sort of been formatted plenty of times by different OS's so thats sort of inline with @T5735 slave formatting I guess??

I'm assuming the polarity of the barrel connector is ...
positive in the center, and negative is the outer area.

If other news, My T5730 is setup and running Untangle quite happily I've still got some tweaking to do so I can access stuff from the outside world.

@T5735> I even went as far as formatting one drive into FAT32 hoping windows would recognize the drive, but no luck.
I have exhausted every avenue available to me to try and get windows to load onto one of my SSD's through an adapter.

That is a workstation card that requires you to use that weird DVI splitter cables on it for a dual monitor setup. I am not saying it wouldn't work but just wanted to make sure you knew that before you actually bought anything. The ATI MV Fire cards that come stock in the GT7720's have the same output on them as well.

I have managed to get around Windows inability to load through an adapter to an SSD!! I installed and updated Windows fully on an old 30GB HDD. It took almost 20GB of space. Then put the 30GB HDD and my Intel 310 SSD in my main machine and was able to copy the drive successfully this time, because I did not re-size the partition.

boots normally ... when i install an OS will wright again how it works with the card.

Is everyone doing alright? I just figured I would check in to see what everyone was up to. I am working on building my own case for a 5740 motherboard with 4 slots for full sized hard drives and making my own NAS using freenas software.

i have managed to fit in the gt7725 2x 4GB RAM DDR2 800MHz works fine
and a TURION X2 ULTRA ZM-87 2.4 GHz works fine too

That is good to hear. Is the new CPU that big of an improvement over the one that comes with it? What are you running for your HD?

I recently came across a nice Nano Router that can also use OpenWRT to operate it, and open all of the hardware features.
It doesn't start with OpenWRT, but someone has been able to put it on there.

It's gotten very popular in recent months, especially now that OpenWRT is able to be used on it, but it's also very functional with the stock firmware too.
It has a file server built-in, that also supports video play-back on your computer or tablet/phone.

I'm wondering if the MagicJack Plus could be used on its Ethernet port, to create a wireless MagicJack link to the internet...wirelessly connected to your home router, or other internet access. (HotSpot WiFi...etc...)

People on here, familiar with OpenWRT, will have a better chance to assess that possibility, but even if not, it has many uses as it is already.

There are other HooToo (SunValleyTek) portable routers available with built-in battery packs, too.
And this one can be used with a separate Battery Bank as well if need be.

Well...as it turns out...I may have over-stated.

My personal stuff has taken a turn for the better, rather than the worse.

The first phase is going in my favor. I still need to wait-and-see how it ends,

Since my T5735 is sat happily running as my gateway and filter the the internets I've been off playing with a Raspberry Pi, setting it up as an airplay receiver for my car. It works a treat!

I have recently been able to source a few of the PCI-Express riser cards needed to get the graphics running on XBMC on Linux (or OpenElec for that matter). They allow you to use other PCI-Express X1 compatible graphics cards. I plan to use the thin client as a Media Center PC.

Because I know the expansion boards are hard to find and I had to buy a batch, I am selling the ones I don't need so that maybe other people will be able to do the mod as well and we could document it here. The price will be 20 € including shipping worldwide. It should take about a week on average (padded envelope via airmail) to arrive. PM me if interested and I will send you the Paypal details. These modules fit the T5730 and T5735 models. Here is a picture of the board:

The online docs say administrator with a password of Administrator should give me admin privileges and that you just have to hold down the left shift key while logging out and keep holding it until it prompts to login.

I have tried that but it won't let me login.

Got it. Just downloaded the IMG file and re-flashed/installed it.
