MJ Won't Use Phone Keypad
I bought my 2nd MJ a couple months ago ( I gave the first one I bought a few years ago to my ex) and I can make calls from the softphone on my PC but the keypad on my phone continues dial tone while I'm pressing numbers on it. I can answer a call by pressing the talk button on the phone but that's it. Even when calling automated phone numbers I have to click on the softphone as they don't recognise the keypad on my phone at all. I have been on chat with MJ twice and all they did was screw up my PC to the point it took me half the next day to repair the damage they had me do. My son has a 402-245-xxx (southeast NE communications) number and that is another one that is obviously blocked as I only get the 3 busy signals then out. Appreciate any help...

Re: MJ Won't Use Phone Keypad
I had the same issue and the only way I could get it to stop was to downgrade my MJFeatures add-on to an earlier version. We could never figure out why , but if you are using it that might be a solution.bluesman wrote: I can make calls from the softphone on my PC but the keypad on my phone continues dial tone while I'm pressing numbers on it. To be clear it's not downgrading features on MJ. There is a third party product called MJFeatures that apparently only I was having an issue with, and I downgraded to an earlier version and the issue went away and has stayed away. So I'm assuming you're not using it and something else is causing your problem.bluesman wrote:I've tried 2 cordless phones and 1 new corded phome with the same results. How do you downgrade the MJ features?

and once I went back to an older release of magicfeatures all was well again for me too
yes it is a plugin for MJ, called MagicFeatures that can be download at pcphonesoft.com It is a plugin that you have to pay for, but they let you try it out for 7 days . If you are not already using this plugin, then like nailgunner said, you must be having different problem than we did.bluesman wrote:Is MJ features something seperate that needs dowloaded? Maybe I could try it and downgrade as you did...willing to try anything at this point lol.

See if she wasn't your ex all would work greatbluesman wrote:No, one I gave to my ex years ago and she's using it in NE with one of the blocked rural companies (402-245-xxx) but she can dial using her phone keypad (just not locally) whereas this new one I bought is being used in KS and I can call locally just on the softphone on PC, not the phone keypad...
MAYBE something got screwed up with your account. Did MJ offer to reset your account last night? I ONLY use MJ support when my VM screws up as I would not trust them with anything else.. This is the place to be for support!!
Have you tried running the MJ removal tool from their web page and letting it update again? You are not using the short extension cable which came with the MJ are you, don't? Also be sure to use a rear USB port and last but not least a POWERED usb hub..
Just things off the top of my head, just a short trip actually

Just to update, I got on chat again lastnight and got a little snotty with them about my problem and all the blocked calls and today I received the "return the MJ at a prorated basis and don't come back" e-mail. They also mentioed it was cost prohibitive to open all rural phone companies...what a crock. I can see MJ going away very soon (I hope). I will be ordering a nettalk duo soon...

As a last ditch effort did you try emailing [email protected] and explaining your problem and all you have done AND how their support messed up your PC? I would push that last part, who knows they MIGHT send you a replacement for free.
Just a thought...

There are some. A few posts herer talk about it, but as it stands it seems most are satisfied with it and as of now, they are not blocking any numbers.bluesman wrote:Thanks, I may try that but after reading up on the nettalk duo I'm pretty well sold. Any negative info on the duo would be appreciated tho...
That is the one thing which would make me switch to NT, if they blocked numbers I call all the time..

Still working on the MJ til the duo gets here. On another forum a member told me to format the MJ then run the removal tool then upgrade. Well, with the MJ unplugged and "my computer" open, when I plug in the MJ it opens 2 drive letters G and H. G says it's a disc drive and when I right click H format does show up but when I click it it says to insert disc. Any ideas? Sounds like my PC is seeing the MJ as a disc drive...

MJ disabled the built in flash drive on older MJ dongles ( the new ones dont even have them any longer) a few updates ago. SO since there is no longer a "drive" to format you no longer can.bluesman wrote:Still working on the MJ til the duo gets here. Seeing 2 drives IS normal.. You just cant do anything with them ( well other than assign a different drive letter via Disk Management)

The ATA part means it works sans PC since you can plug it directly into your router..bluesman wrote:So basicly the best thing to do to get my phone keypad to work is wait for my duo to arrive then smash this MJ with a hammer lol. I'm actually looking forward to that...
EDIT: I've seen the duo referred to as an actual "ATA". What does that mean?
Yes the hammer trick would work, but only if the MJ itself is defective. If there is something on your PC causing your MJ to do that then it is a waste of a good MJ. You could always mail it to me to use for the remainder of its contract. Heck throw a stamp on it and it it survives the mail great if not, then the Government hit it for you with their hammer...
