So my MJ no longer works on my asterisk, so I thought of connecting it a different way.
Windows7 box with MJ on USB -> ATA -> network -> Asterisk as extension/Trunk
Would this work, and if so, what ATA should I get? An FXS or FXO?
Make / Model would be appreciated also if possible,
question: on MJ with an ATA?

Re: question: on MJ with an ATA?
Problem is not asterisk or ata but MJ password-a-go-go that we are currently experiencing. Prospects for an easy cure are not looking good. MJ really put a lot of cleverness and effort into this recent roadblock and it looks like it may be unhackable or may require a unique solution for each individual device. The best we can do so far is a solution that requires constant communication with your dongle. Different solution for V4 dongles. tho.kitkat0981 wrote:So my MJ no longer works on my asterisk, so I thought of connecting it a different way.

Try nettalk duo or whistlephone.com, both of which can be used with you ata

OP mentioned asterisk where he would require sip credentials to use his account in most flexible fashion. Sip credentials are inherent in whistlephone acct and easily derived from NT Duo.oldtimercurt wrote:Crackerjack
Just ordered NT Duo. Since it can be plugged into router, same as ATA, why would I want to go through the SIP credentials hassle so I could run on ATA? More features via ATA perhaps?

As for your situation w/DUO, it is an actual ATA, just plug into your router and roll..
Good Luck

If it is the same as the TK6000, they do not offer caller ID with call waiting. With your SIP credentials and an ATA, it is supported. So, that is one reason to use an ATA with nettalk.oldtimercurt wrote:Crackerjack

Not sure if that applies to the DUO.

Use FXO Port to your MJ Dongle, or whatever you are using for analogue dialtone to the world, you can use the FSX Port to an analogue extension on your asterisk network too on this device
it's a little old but still releavent on the concept I am talking about
