Post by ewa27 »

I can hear the dial tone on my phone, can hear myself dial, and right after I cant hear a thing, the person i called can hear me, but I can't hear a thing, does anyone have any suggestions??
this is my first time trying to use the magic jack and the tech support keeps me on live chat forever without anything that has yet resolved the issue

Receiver speaker not working etc.

I have had the MJ for a number of years and it has been like a marriage. Love - hate - love-hate. One of the biggest problems I have had is that sometimes when I dial out, I hear the numbers being dialed, but I cannot hear the ringing and I cannot hear anyone answer on the other end. On the reverse, there have been times that I have answered an incoming call, but no one seems to be there. Unplugging the dongle and replugging and rebooting sometimes will allow me to make a couple of outgoing calls but then it goes back to the same ole things again.

However, most recently after having been online with chat for several hours to no avail, I found a posting somewhere on this forum that advised me to send an e mail to Dan Borislow (owner and inventer of MJ) at this address: [email protected] - telling him about my problems with MJ that the chat service has failed to correct. As a result, they sent me a new dongle which I received yesterday and I have installed this evening. So far, it seems to be working properly. A few days will tell the tale.

After I see if it is going to do the trick, I will come back to the forum and report my findings to you.

As of today my new Magic Jack dongle is still working perfectly. I have tried it with a variety of telephones (3 different cordless systems and a corded phone) under a variety of conditions and it has performed perfectly every time.

Did you check to make sure that your settings for the MJ are set for telephone vs headset/softphone?
