I thought dell support was bad, MJ tech chat takes the prize

These tech chat people are unbelievable. Are they for real ? then they cut and past in the wrong statements. just unbelievable.
Anyway, since this is the tech support forum, anyone have any idea why my phone would stop ringing?

tony: no, that is incorrect

tony: ok but I spent two hours in chat yesterday trying to fix my problem

tony: the magicJack was working fine for a few days, then I did the mac upgrade and the phone which i was using would not ring anymore. tried another phone and 3 other computers. no ring on either the mac or pc

William: Ok

tony: the tech chat people tried everything

William: Are you a Mac user?

tony: both mac and pc

William: Ok

William: Please plug it into PC now

tony: Please, I'm not going to go through this again unless you know exactly whats going to fix it.

tony: if you're only going to try things we did that yesterday

William: Please let me know if the blue light is on

tony: I was already told I would get an exchange

tony: YES THE BLUE LIGHT IS ON

William: Ok

William: Please let me know if the magicjack software dial pad is visible

tony: yes it is, before we go further, do you really know what is going to fix it ?

William: Please try to call your MagicJack now

tony: why ? you didn;'t answer my question and I've been trying to call it. Nothing has changed

William: Please don't plug the phone with the MagicJack

William: Try to call the MagicJack number and let me know if the call goes through

tony: Yes the call goes through

William: Please try to call you local number using the software dial pad and let me know if the call goes through

tony: yes that works too

William: It seems that the issue is with the phone. Please try to use any other phone with MagicJack

tony: ok, I already told the two previous techs and already told you that this phone and the other phone ive used previously worked fine and rang as it should before i did the mac upgrade !!!!!!!!!!!

tony: WHAT DON"T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND

tony: its not my phones!

tony: I went through this yesterday with the two other techs

tony: why are you wasting my time and yours over a $20 product when you can just exchange it?

William: I am sorry for the inconvenience

tony: I'm not a dumb grandma, I'm an aircraft technician for over 20 years and an advanced computer user for over 10. I know what I'm doing

William: Please let me know the make of those phones

tony: one is a sony and the other a vtech

tony: how long are you going to drag me through this?

William: Please try to use GE corded phone with MagicJack and it will work

tony: I SAID THEY BOTH WORKED BEFORE!!!!!

tony: ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR ME TO GO OUT AND BUY A GE PHONE ?

tony: The sony is a corded phone

tony: just get me an exchange please

I feel your pain. Really, I do.

But, please remember that the tech support people are people too. Apparently they don't have a good system in place to look up information, and truly help you. But, I think it's hardly their fault.

Dells a joke.... My CPU blew like 4 years after i got it... i called dell up to see if they would do anything and they told me to call the spare parts people... The lady quoted me $400 just for a damn pentium 4 HT (yes a pentium 4) and that is just for the CPU.

Dell support can be a real joke. Several times I had to hang up and call back so I could speak to someone that could talk and understand
English. I have used tech chat once with magicJack and did work.

I've actually been somewhat satisfied with my MJ. I was offered a job at Dell and turned it down because of my experiences with their products and support (or lack of). What do you expect for such an inexpensive doohdad.... any problems MJ gave me in the past couple days has been solved by this forum except for the missing Voicemail service.

I'm going to downgrade my cell phone to prepay and pay the stinking termination fee. If it's an urgent call and my computer is turned off they can call my cell. I added it up and I'll save $3600 on cell charges (minus what I buy in prepaid minutes).

Yeah you get what you pay for as far as support goes, but MJ is the most bang for your buck you're ever going to get.
