Rebooting computer for magicjack use
I don't know if anyone else is having this problem but...Every morning I have a dial tone. But I cannot make an outgoing phone call or receive a call. If I dial a phone # the softphone shows session progress time and then operational time (whick I asssume means it has connected,) but I do not hear the phone ringing. If a call comes in there is noone on the other end (at least that I can hear). I then have to reboot my computer and restart the magicjack for it to work. Sometimes it will restart itself when I reboot. If I have to restart it it gets stuck in "starting, please wait" mode. Did I mention how annoying this is?! Sometimes it does this after working for a few hours. Any ideas? Please help.

With MJ, the computer has to be on 24/7 for the device to work continuously. Try going into the Control Panel -- Power Options and make sure it is set to never sleep or hibernate.
lenagainster,
This comment of yours should be part of a list of known MagicJack issues. Excellent reply, for some reason the sleep issue never came to mind.
OP,
You didn't mention what OS you are using. If it is Vista, consider yourself lucky that it autostarts at all, if your system is XP I have had mine not autostart but it is very rare indeed.

Once I converted mine app to run as a service both my reliability and call sound quality increased. I also changed XP to give more priority to "background services" and I suspect that call quality increase may be due to services being treated with more importance.... just a theory at this point by the noticeable improvement is fact whatever the reason.

I was having that problem too. I'd get up and have a dial tone but be unable to make a call or come in in the afternoon and find that I had'nt received calls that I know were made. No sleep issues here and my computer stays on 24/7, but we have had some internet connection issues and our connection will drop out for a minute or two however, as I write this we just experienced a small dropout earlier and also a bigger one this afternoon so I just tried to make a call and the call was fine. I just thought it was an update issue and since the service seems better I won't worry about it. I tried a couple of days ago to run as a service but could'nt make any calls after configuring it. Think I'll try that again soon and see if I can muddle through it.
