Magic Jack and your Health

Post by saxman »

It seems that alot of people are going ballastic over glitches in this thing. THIS PHONE IS FLAWED-OK?-Don't let an occasional echo or clicking sound ruin your day or make you want to throw it out. We have been pretty spoiled from the Ma Bell landline system which took billions to set up and we payed for it for many years. This is a homegrowm system built by one guy. Be proud of the fact that you know longer have to pay the big corporations anymore, and if your phone sounds like a third world phone at times well, they are working on it all the time . In the meantime get the Hawking HBB1 Broadband Booster to clear up the calls. It makes an amazing positive difference in the clarity. Don't let this phone get your BP jacked out of shape. It's not worth getting stressed over. It may be good to get a second cheap pre-paid backup cell just for emergencys or while on the road.I have one from Virgin Mobile-I pay $20.00 every 90 days-that's it-both my numbers go through Grand Central (free) and the number they give me is the one that rings both phones. Simple-If your MJ's not working, that's something else, but if it's just sounding lousy at times, that may not be fixable YET-(but coming"soon")lol

Saxman, I have the same plan from VirginMobile and it is only $15.00 every 90 days if you register a credit card with them for payment. Also, money not used in the 90-day period is carried over to the next 90-day period so you never lose anything like you do with contract cellular service.

A cheaper alternative is Gizmo Proejct.... 2 cents per minute out free incomming.... you can even config it with an ATA if you have one. I have it set up with GC as the back up line.

Both great ideas. Jon, I didn't know that about the extra 5 dollars off on Virgin. Thats real cheap for a virgin! or even a non virgin. Seriously, the only problem with VM and just about any other pre-paid phone company is that their service area is real limited. If I want to drive to Cal from Wa, where I live the phone works good but the minute I leave I-5 (the main freeway), I lose service. I was told that this is normal for all prepaid phones. The Qwest cell phone , not prepaid, works anywhere here but their charging about double for those extra towers. I think the phone and internet wars going on will end up with lower rates for everyone as they compete for our bucks. I just wish someone would come up with a really cheap highspeed internet system. I'd love to pay 20 bucks a year for internet.
I was checking out the internet tv the other day and they do come in good with the streaming video but the channels are real limited. I predict that in a few more years all communication will travel through one line and provide phone, internet and television which can be made to watch on large screens without having to be a graduate of IIT to figure out. There's no reason to have so many different lines when one will handle everything. Right now Comcast and Direct TV pretty much own the airwaves ,but maybe someone like Dan will really get into internet tv on a big scale and make it super cheap for people to watch. Right now tv is a major bill every month and it keeps going up.
