Garage Company??Pablo123 wrote:I have a Nettalk DUO and it works great, I have no complaits. Voip my way is a garage company, tomorrow they might be out of business. Any body know how voip my way network is set up? Do they have serval server locations?
Thx,
Pablo
I don't think thats a very fair statement. I've been using Voipmyway since Christmas. Customer service had been good and so has the product. As far a reliablility, I think it exceeds Nettalk, yes I too had (HAD) nettalk, and they are not flawless by anymeans. While Nettalks customer service was good, the service has it issues, but the reason I left was no local number availibilty. Had they provided a local number for me, I would have kept the product and worked with it
For me, there is no comparison between magicJack, nettalk (the tk6000 and the DUO) and VoIP myway with regards to call quality. I have Qwest DSL (12mpbs) service and have performed all of the ping/VoIP tests and my DSL service passes all of the tests. As a side-note, I have a DLink DIR-655 router, which is known to not work well with either the tk6000 or the DUO.jeffnyc wrote:So being that you have both NetDuo and Voip My Way, how do you think they compare? Voip My Way seems cheaper in the short run with the special but what happens after a year?
Up front, I was very happy with magicJack, but they started blocking all of the numbers we call on a routine basis. I was running it on a thin client and later on my Linksys PAP2T and the service worked nicely. Hiccups here and there, but for $20 a year, it was quite good.
When magicJack started blocking numbers, I tried the tk6000. With it, I had garble issues and returned it after about 3 months of trying to work it out. The tk6000 just wasn't ready for primetime, but not having to use a computer or thin client was nice.
Next came the DUO (with the Christmas special). With the DUO, when we would call family members, they would tell me it sounded like the old days when we would try VoIP. There was a delay when using the service ... almost like you have to say "over" when you are done with your end of the conversation. That was driving us a bit crazy. Also, they aren't currently offering number porting and I would like to keep my old number (yes, I realize there are ways to forward it).
Finally, I tried VoIP myway and was blown away with the call quality. For the PAP2T, they have a provisioning URL and you type that into the setup page and it configures the ATA for the best settings. Following that, my wife tried the service and felt like she was on a normal POTS line. After 2 years of trying out services, she was ecstatic.
The one downside to the service is the 1500 minute call limit. The DUO is 5000 minutes and we would never hit that, but I know we will end up pushing the 1500 minutes each month. I wish they would raise it to 2500, I think that would be perfect. Mike (the guys who runs the service) did email me and let me know there are options to add minutes and there is no doubt, I will have to do that.
As for the running out of the garage comment, if so, the service has some serious fiber lines running to his garage. I can't tell you how good the call quality is with the service. Oh, and because you are using an ATA, you get all of the bells and whistles (call forwarding, call waiting with caller ID, etc). And, they offer number porting.
Their customer service is top-knotch. I had a slight issue with a call not going through and within a few hours, they had it fixed and they followed up with me to ensure I was happy. Very good customer service.
The bottom line: for $30 a year, it is a great, on second thought, it would better to say, it is an outstanding service. At renewal time, I think it goes back to $95 per year.
I hope this helps those that are looking for options.

With netduo or magicjack the longer you keep, the price goes down.
With VoIP myway, I honestly don't know what happens at the one year mark. I am only into my first month. I am making an assumption that it goes back to the normal annual rate, but am not sure. It may be something where Mike allows you to renew at any specials rates he has running at the time. Perhaps he will add a comment to this thread.

Guys to clear some things up since I rarely visit here due to my schedule.
We are no garage company and in the event we ever stop existing we have a plan in place as part of our business model, where our provider will take over our clients at the same rate they are paying.
We resell from a wholesale provider. The thing that makes us different then most providers are that we willingly provide you your SIP credentials. On top of that we have aprox 99% customer service rate. I will be the first to admit I ca not always make people happy, especially when they want the world for nothing.
These are all promo rates at the end of 1 year you will have several choices.
1. Renew for another year at 95$ which is less then 8.00 a month
2. renew on a monthly plan which is $9.99 a month
3. Move to our residential lite plan if you realize you don't really need all those minutes.
4. Look for another provider. We will be sad to see you go but every day new companies spring up offering crazy deals. you may find some one that is better then us or you may not. The big thing to remember is our level of support and the fact we provide the SIP credentials.
Another thing I want to clear up. Once you are a client you can not make use of the new promotions, unless you are not a client for a min of 6 months. This is to stop people from jumping on new plans. These promos are severely discounted to build client base. If you decide to leave us to take advantage of the new deals you will loose the number you have with us unless you port it to the new provider.
If you guys have questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at support[a]voipmyway.com.

Its true that people want the world for nothing. Blame it on Google Voice and Magicjack who basically gave phone calls away for nothing and sort of put a dent in the revenue model for an already competitive VOIP business.
