Hello everyone,
I bought a t5700 1g 256/256 and then bought a 1gb transend and a 512 meg ram chip as stroths describes when I try to flash from my usb stick drive which I reformat the e: drive then send the sp29705 to the reformated hp usb stick drive...so
I have followed stroths directions to a T and cannot get the program from my Hp 8 gb flashdrive model v100w to my Hp t5700 I right click format drive then copy the program from my desktop to the usb stick then I did the administrator thing and have the red padlock icon on the screen,I did an F10 thing and went to Bios 1st boot usb second boot is flash third boot is network then hit F10 save,Yes turn off the thin client insert the HP brand usb stick it flashes green one time then the screen says....verifying pool data........
Missing operating system_
I would really like to dump Internet explorer 6 and get internet explorer 8 with adobe flash 10.2 and java though and realise that if this project takes, this unit will be useless for the web with Ie6 thats on sp29705(I've already tried it thats on the 256meg drive and get constant messages to upgrade my browser to ie8)If this worked I'd like to get high speed at our camp since we are there only 5 months out of the year dump the phone service and use my magicjack ,but I was also thinking limited internet would be nice too, streaming you tube occasionally would be great also. But I've seen it work on the t5700 it's choppy but it worked,I used up all the 256 memory though and lost that program but I know the thin client is capable. Its like its NOT even trying to boot from the stick. What the heck am I doing wrong???
Ed
Any better upgrades with Ie8 info would be also appreciated maybe not being able to load sp29705 is a blessing in disquise for something better.

Re: cannot boot from hp usb drive
Seems like I read somewhere in here that the t5700 didn't like a USB bigger than 2Gig.....I could be mistaken though.corvus wrote:Hello everyone,

If that doesn't work, go here:

Jeepsterguy did an Excellent job summarizing the somewhat fragmented instructions written by Stroths / VaHam / many other contributers. I personally think the jeepsterguy's summarized and step by step "dummies guide" should have been made a sticky but that wasn't my call. Oh well.
Good luck.

It says for Dummies but.......
I guess just downloading sp29705 onto a usb stick drive isnt enough to do the job?I've got the win98 and the DOK program on my USB drive but I cant figure out how to marry them together so they'll voluntarily enter the t5700.Does somone on this site offer to program blank 1gig transmedia flash chips for a small fee??

You need to download the HP Os file onto your desktop computer. Then from there run it and it will format and unpack the necessary files onto the USB DOK.corvus wrote:I guess just downloading sp29705 onto a usb stick drive isnt enough to do the job?I've got the win98 and the DOK program on my USB drive but I cant figure out how to marry them together so they'll voluntarily enter the t5700.Does somone on this site offer to program blank 1gig transmedia flash chips for a small fee??
After that transfer the DOK to your TC's usb port and reboot.
Sad Times Ahead for this Obamanation !!!! Psalms 109:8

Get in there and change it to USB first.
Then when you're done change it back or the thing will try to boot from the magicjack dongle after it's plugged in.
Boot order
I had someone help me out and we got right up to the point where we started to download to the usb 8gb stick drive and my computer indicated an error and wouldnt write to the usb drive.I am ordering a 2GB USB stick drive bc someone posted here that the 8GB might cause an error,so I'll try that.
There was another point made: the guy who helped me and researched this had a Mac laptop and he came by yesterday to tell me that, sometimes the error could be caused buy the app being downloaded from his mac computer to mine may have somehow corrupted the DOK program. How it was explained to me is making this dos key shell (If I'm using the correct term) is a simple task for someone that clearly understands computers and the DOs operating system.I think that the whole point of this is that the sp54207 has to be loaded in a dos enviroment and XP is incapable of that ,so by loading a mini windows 98 operating system that contains the components of the dos prompt creates that enviroment? I am trying to get my head on straight to understand this.
