dropped calls
I have Vista Home & when I try to use my magicjack there is a message error 3, please connect to the internet & double click. I have tried 100 times & it does not work. I can call out but it disconnects in less than 30 seconds. I am so frustrated with this & unfortunately I prepaid for 5 yrs & can't use the phone.
It sounds like your router or firewall is blocking MJ from working correctly. Give this a read http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/MagicJack/ ... connect.3F also give a detailed search here in the forum I know there is a thread about calls disconnecting after 30 seconds. What type of router do you have? Also you could try and connect your PC directly to your modem and see if it's a router problem. If it is a router problem I know many others have used Tomato or DD-WRT firmware to fix similar problems in the past.
Re: dropped calls
I don't understand - you are not connected (error 3) but you can call out?? I can't see how this can work. Or are you saying that when your machine starts, magicjack does not immediately connect but after you double-click, you are connected but then your calls drop?joanrochford wrote:I have Vista Home & when I try to use my magicjack there is a message error 3, please connect to the internet & double click. First, have you contacted the customer support chat folks? Second, have you run a scan on your machine to make sure that you don't have virus' or malware stealing all of your CPU cycles? Third, have you searched this forum for possible solutions such as trying different proxy servers or raising the magicJack process priority? Also what kind of internet connection are you using - is your computer wired directly into a router or is your computer using wireless? And are you using a corded or cordless phone? Many (many!!) people try to use wireless computer connects with a cordless phone and they may interfere with each other - both running at 2.4GHz. Often the cordless phone knocks the computer wireless connection off.
If you are using a wireless connection change it to wired. Or if you can't, try using a corded phone (as a test) to see if your call success rate goes up.
Also, what are your ISP connection speeds and have you run any tests to ensure that the connection is capable of support Voice over IP?
