Please insert a disk into drive J: error??

Post by hartterc »

Every night I shut down My PC because it's close to me in my room (Windows XP Pro). When I boot it up now in the morning my MJ lights up then shuts off. I have to pull it from it's USB spot on my PC then plug it back in and click the icon and that's when the error comes up, (Please insert a disk into drive J:). MJ loads up still then I cancel out of the error and can make and receive calls still. I have not changed or added anything to my PC it just started doing this about three days ago. Anyone have any idea what may be causing this to happen? Did the tech support today but that didn't help solve the problem.

Greetings,

The MagicJack is basically a small flash drive. Whenever you remove them physically from the computer without doing a "Safely Remove Device" from the computer it runs a chance of messing it up. I am not saying this is your issue, but it is a possibility. If this is indeed the issue, you will need to get another MagicJack.

I would recommend two things:

#1. Do a Windows system restore to a point before you started having these issues. I.E. approximately 3 days prior or more.

#2. Update your MagicJack: http://upgrades.magicjack.com/upgrade/upgrade.exe
After the download double click Upgrade.exe while your MagicJack is inserted and running. Then restart the computer.

I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
