DNS client service is started set to automatic
Flushed DNS
edited hosts file to known existing good server
turned off firewall
made a magic call outgoing call
magic jack still goes to original server
any suggestions!!!
FOUND THE SOLUTION
Has your HOSTS file quit working?
possible cause- some malware has changed the registry value that tells windows where the hosts file is located. The entry is at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Digest\Hosts. The default value is %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts for Windows 2000 or XP, or %SystemRoot%\hosts for Win9x. This is very important since many ad blockers modify this file to remove ad banners from websites. If you're not up for changing this regitsry value yourself, you can get a reg file fix from http://users.silenceisdefeat.net/~lgtng ... /hosts.zip
Just double-click to add it to your registry.
If you want to check it before installing it open it in notepad.
