HELP !! I think my flash memory is dead

Post by demj1308 »

I installed a transcend 2gb flash about 6 months ago and was running tiny xp, tried to install xpe yesterday which did not work, now when i try to turn on my hpt5730 it says "non system disk or disk error replace and press any key when ready" I thought when i tried to install xpe it might have erased the tiny xp i had on there, today i tried to reinstall tiny xp and it says no hard drive found. I checked the bios and it shows;
Amount of flash memory 0
Memory size 2016mb

is my flash memory dead ??, i tried removing and re-installing to make sure it was in good.

thanks

I don't believe the XPe image will install on a t5730 if main memory is over 1 GB.

Try removing the power cord for a minute; not just turning the TC off. This resets some BIOS settings. Let us know if it works.

sorry so long, i sent the memory back to transcend, as it was under warranty, still waiting to get it back. Then ill try to install xpe again, is it possible that the tc is not licensed for XPe, there was no operating system on it when i bought it ??

XPe is the stock OS for the t5730 and is available for free download here -

But, it comes with only 1 GB of RAM stock from HP and many of their TCs refuse to load their OS if memory specs don't match factory issue.

followed the link it says,

NOTE: The 5.1.810.XPe3 (English) image contained in this package can be
deployed to a supported Thin Client model with a minimum of a 1-GB flash memory card and 1 GB of RAM.

so it sounds like it works with more than 1 gb,
